XP: Question on Boudoir pix

I am going between Maria at IQ Foto in Columbus and Rachel Spears Photography in Cincinnati for boudoir pix. I live in the northeast cincy area,( but our wedding is in Cbus) so travel to IQ would be about 70 min, and travel to Maria about 25 min. Maria's marathon session is 90 min for $125 and does not include prints or anything. Rachel Spears' marathon session is $175 for 40 min and incudes professional makeup and copyright clearance to 15-20 prints. I've seen lots of b-pix of Maria's, but not that many of Rachel's so I'm having a hard time telling how good they are. Have any of you ladies used either one before?

Re: XP: Question on Boudoir pix

  • I've met with Rachel before - and she's a really chill person. She'll be shooting our wedding. She's professional, but personable and spunky. I'm sure her boudoir sessions would be relaxed - but fun..

    Not much help though.

  • rachel did my boudoir before the wedding and i'm doing her mini-day in a couple weeks. i also checked out IQ's so i could compare for you. just based on them having it as a section on their website, it looks like they do a lot of boudoir whereas rachel does almost entirely weddings and does boudoir as an add-on. that being said, i was really happy with my shots from rachel. but the pictures on the IQ site are beautiful too. i think with the price/distance, you really just have to look at what you get for your money. rachel's is more expensive but you get rights and makeup (and michelle marxey did my makeup too. she's really good) but you are more confident in IQ's pictures. just weigh that and make your decision. i think you'll end up being happy either way. :) IMHO, rachel's seems like a better deal.
  • Thank you so much mroberts! I agree it sounds like a better deal, but since I haven't been able to find many pix Rachel has done, I wasn't sure of the quality. I also wasn't sure if this is something she does often and has much experience in. Although I imagine, its hard to post those as fewer ppl would likely sign a release...
