Boston-area DJ's?

Can anyone make any recommendations for a Boston-area DJ? DJ Yogz is unavailable for my wedding date. I also heard of DJ Bunty but wanted some feedback from others regarding him and his team.  Also, any idea how much it will cost to bring in a DJ from NY/NJ?

We used The Dhol Xperience who are based out of NY to come out to NJ for our wedding. They charged us for the tolls and gas based on mileage, so I imagine they would do the same for you. I think though that they might also require you to pay for their hotel, too.

We were really happy with them, they did a great job. Even one of my non-desi friends commented on how great they were.

    Hope that helps a bit.

I am getting married in RI so was in a similar situation as you.  DJ Yogz was also booked for my wedding date.  He gave us some other recs of people in the area but they all seemed to have less experience than him and I wasn't too sure about that.  We ended up getting Magic Mike who is based out of NY.  Our wedding is in June so I'm not sure how it will turn out but I have heard nothing but amazing things about Magic Mike.  He is about $4000 not including hotel for 2 nights.  This was about twice the price for DJ Yogz but we were willing to spend that since my fiance went to a wedding where Magic Mike was the DJ and loved him.  I also know that DJ Raj out of NJ is amazing (he did my brother's wedding) and his price was similar to Magic Mike.  Let me know if you have any questions as I did a lot of research about these things in the New England area.  Goodluck!

I second the Magic Mike recommendation.  He DJ'ed our wedding reception in Chicago over Memorial Day Weekend and was amazing, as usual.  He also DJ'ed my best friend's wedding in Boston and did a fantastic job, downloading requested songs (the University of Texas fight song) he didn't have during the reception.  Actually, I've never been to an event of his where the dance floor has just a few people on it.  Those receptions have always had packed dance floors.

I think what sets Mike apart from other DJs is that he emcees all night long and can pump a crowd up and get them moving if folks are sitting down.  It's not just the good songs, it's the quality of mixing, the fact that he actually plays requests (instead of nodding and ignoring you), and the emceeing.  Yeah, he's expensive but I think a good DJ makes or breaks a reception (for those looking to have a dance-centric reception with a packed floor all night long).

i'm trying to find a DJ right now too - DJ Gaurav is supposed to be really good (http://www.djgaurav.com/) and i'm pretty sure he'll come out to Boston AND he's affordable! also, DJ Suhel and DJ Shahid of Rose Events Entertainment (http://www.roseeventsentertainment.com/home.php) are also supposed to be really good - all these DJ's are based out of the NY/NJ area and will likely be willing to come to Boston - hope that helps!

Dj Bunty from DJ Deewane is located in Mass and comes with raving reviews.\

If he's booked try Dj Sukh from NY- he has a flat 1250 rate to come to boston and he also has amazing reviews as well.
