Wine???

We have a very limited budget for our reception, so I am trying to keep costs down as much as possible.  We are having a somewhat casual outdoor reception under a pavilion at a game preserve.  We are bringing in our own food and grilling the meats ourselves, so you kind of have an idea the level of fomality.  I know especially with the economy the way it is, I don't want to do a cash bar if I can help it.  We're planning on having two kegs of beer there (which should be enough for the number of guests), but I would also like to do some kind of wine for the non-beer drinkers.  We are not allowed to bring in our own alcohol, so I'm planning on getting one of the cheaper brands from the venue.  I'm just not sure how to provide wine, but to have a limit on it?  We will have the food available for several hours buffet style, so I'm not sure if it would work to provide the wine for a set hour or two during dinner?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  We will be having approximately 20 tables, so a bottle or two on each table isn't really an option financially.  Thanks!

It is perfectly acceptable to just host kegs of beer and several bottles of wine on a first-come, first-served basis.  Don't do drink tickets or put a limit on people.  Just purchase as much as you can afford and tell the venue to stop serving wine when those bottles are gone.

GOOD FOR YOU for trying to avoid a cash bar.  =)

I hate the idea of cash bar, we got soo lucky that our venue allows us to bring in our own kegs and wine.

I agree with PP, once they run out, it's out.

Agreed, just buy a set amount of wine and make it available.  Like the beer, when it's gone it's gone!

do you have a Walmart near you?  They sell their store brand named Oak Leaf and it is amazing.  IT is under $3 per bottle - Yes under $3!!!!!! to make them look great make branded labels with your names and date, etc and slap that sticker on there and have a cute, affordable table wine!
