Nola Officiants and Hotels???

Hey my fellow Nola brides!!!!

Who are yall using for your officiant for your big day?! My fiance and I are getting married at a plantation so we have to provide our own. We are hoping for someone a little laid back and fun!!

We also need to block out rooms for out of town guests, and I am kind of procrastinating because everytime ive talked to someone at a hotel they give me short answers, dont help at all, and then try to make me get their credit card or whatever. We just had a bachelorette party for a friend of mine and finding just one room was a nightmare!!! Any suggestions of who to or not to use????

Thank you ladies!!!

Re: Nola Officiants and Hotels???

  • I booked Judge Kevin Centanni. Jerry Schwehm and John Zimmer also have good reviews on this board. For the hotel block I chose Maison St Charles and have been happy so far but my wedding hasn't happened yet. I only looked at hotels uptown since that is where my wedding is going to be.

  • We used Judge Centanni as well and he was great.  For the hotels, I would recommend filling out an RFP on the New Orleans Convention and Vistors Bureau Website.  You'll get several bids from hotels.  You shouldn't pay for any rooms that you fill.  Just tell them they can release the rooms a month before your wedding weekend.
  • John Zimmer is who we will be using. He is a family friend. I have been to a ceremony he officiated and he was great.
  • I used hotelplanner.com and found it to be a positive experience.  You get a lot of quotes quickly and can filter by distance, price, star rating, etc.  Makes it easy to compare and they lay out the terms & conditions there.  You can easily eliminate any that are too restrictive in their terms, too far, too pricey, etc.  When you chose a couple of hotels they will give you the sales contact's name and info, and they also give them your info.  I found the sales people at all our hotels to be very receptive once they'd placed bids and knew we weren't just window-shopping.  In general, the sales offices at hotels are much more helpful in this kind of thing than just calling the front desk - so you may need to try during business hours if you're having trouble with this.    I will say that the hotels I contacted through hotelplanner.com were more friendly and most of them used email, which I preferred (I indicated this when I sought the bids on the website in the notes section).

We are using a family member as an officiant so can't help there...
