    I am doing a grooms cake (sort of).  We are having it at our rehearsal dinner though.    It is a surprise to my FI.   He is a hiker, so the cake will be a mountain, with a trail going up and around it.  At the trail head there will be a sign with something corny like "Trail of Love" or something like that. 
    My cake baker is the one baking it for us.  She is giving us a great deal since we are already buying our wedding cake from her.  She is only charging $50.  :)   Our wedding cake is costing $700 though.

    What a great deal - I may have to check with our baker - I too want it to be a surprise for him, but I dont want to spend over 100 on it, its just not in the budget to spend more than that.  I already checked with Margie and she's not available.  I may check with our current baker, Creative cakes and see what they say.

    Margie was my original baker.  :(   She canceled on me because her husband booked a timeshare vacation.   I was beyond disappointed!  
    But my new baker is wonderful and the cakes are going to rock!

    We are doing a Groom's Cake.  FI knows about it though and we are going to sit it on the table next to the big cake.  It will be a stack of his favorite books propping up a bowling pin (and the stripe on the neck of the pin will be made to look like the ball that he bowls with).  It is costing us $125 though.  We are having it be chocolate and vanilla cake with a cookies and cream filling.  Our baker is doing it as well as our wedding cake.

    Schnebs- that sounds cool.  

    Linds- my new baker is out of Leesburg.  Her name is April James.  She is related to one of my good friends, that is how i heard about her.  Her company is called Cake Ave., she bakes out of her home- much like Margie.

    I had a grooms cake in the shape of a Redskins helmet.   I got it from the Amphora bakery in Vienna
