Wedding Planner?

I am getting overwhelmed by planning the wedding and details pretty much on my own since most of my family is in Texas. Has anyone used a planner? What are the fees for a wedding planner and do they just schedule everything or do you use them to pay everything through?Any help would be great!

Re: Wedding Planner?

  • A good friend of ours is using "A Brides Consierge". She said they were very helpful. I cant imagine planning the whole thing on my own. I wish you luck and Im sure if any of us can help, we will!
    Goodluck!!
  • We had a day of coordinator. She was so helpful. Prior to meeting with her, we had all our vendors booked except the limo. We did put in our contract so many minimum meetings prior to the wedding, and not just 6 weeks before. We used Tiesha Frazier with Elixir Events.

  • I totally understand how you feel.  We planned our entire wedding from out of state too- very overwhelming sometimes.  We hired Julie Schmidt from Cincy Event Planning and it was the best decision we ever made.  At first my husband was hesitant, but after he realized everything she did for us, he goes "shouldn't we have paid her more??" LOL  But seriously, we chose the package that cost about $1450 (they offer everything from DOC to full on coordination- we chose somewhere in the middle).  She helped me with budget, offered vendor recs (which was SO helpful since I couldn't be there to interview a bunch of ppl), and even took charge at the rehearsal and handled my difficult in-laws.  I gave her my vision and she ran with it.  She set everything up, tore everything down at the end of the night, literally all I had to do was show up and enjoy my day.  She was beyond AMAZING and way more than I ever could have imagined.  My whole family and all my friends were so impressed with her and her staff.  I couldn't have had my perfect day without her.  Give her a call, she's wonderful!  GL!

  • We used Your Wedding by Jen and she was beyond amazing. Her prices were reasonable and she was so very down to earth. No matter when I emailed her or texted she respond right away. We were a very DIY couple and she had so many awesome ideas for us. We couldn't have had the wedding we did without her. I highly recommend checking her out.

My FI and I are working with her as well!  She has been great at keeping my mom both in the loop and at bay.  Planning a wedding here when my entire family is over 600 miles away is a little challenging, but Jules is taking off a lot of the pressure.  So far, so good!
