Any Photographer Suggestions?

I am on a budget, however photographs is a very important part of the wedding to me. I cannot afford to pay thousands of dollars, however I would like to have some nice pictures to hang on our walls. Any recommendations? I am in North Jersey.

Can you give us a more specific price point?

I'd love to recommend my photographer - he starts at $4k, so I don't know if this is in your budget or not (since there are photographers here that cost more than him, and others that cost less): http://mattraineyweddings.com/

When there's something that's important to me, I find a way to purchase it.

So what exactly is your budget? To some people, that means <$1k. There was a thread here started by someone a few weeks ago saying she was on a budget and was looking to spend $3k+.

You can look at Robert Wayne Photography; compared to some others, I think he's pretty reasonably prices and he does beautiful work. Jason Rhee is another that is spoken of very highly and is priced similarly.

You know what they say . . .

Their photos are pretty good, but I don't think they're great. The show almost nothing from inside a dark church or reception and the few shots that they show using flash don't look very good.

I'm also not sure they're really THAT inexpensive. All they say about weddings is that it starts at $1k; maybe that's only for 4 hours or something? They don't show any pricing at all for albums so you can't even tell if they offer them. And what's with charging for retoucing or even a B&W? Their prices on enlargements seem very high, too. I suspect that $1,000 price is just a teaser.

and I ADORE this guys work, he travels,

They are all are more on the photojournalistic side, I'm not sure if that's the style you're looking for :D

Things to look for ina portfolio of a good photographer- clean editting, no orange casts or green skin tones, composition-wise, no limb chops of up the nose shots, a variety of pictures in different lighting, indoor, outdoor, cloudy, sunny, churches, etc, specifically one that fits your venue, and a good mix of color and B&W, with little to no vignetting (the dark corners), and no selective coloring (gag).
Right now I'm between Sofia, John and another one :D

I was going to go with Jason Rhee but he was booked out on our date so we're going with American Photography. The guy's name is Peter and he is fantastic! The package we are getting is just over $3k

[QUOTE]Hi ... check out www.inspirephotos.com They have packages on website but worked with my budget of 1000.00 and are shooting for 8 hours. they also included free engagement photos. The owner said he would work with me. Try and contact them and see what package works for you.. then he will work with your budget. GOOD LUCK

Kayte IS inspire Photos. They are amateur. Avoid Inspire at all costs. You'll regret going with them. Look at their work. You'll see what I mean. Who the hell charges $1000 for 8 hours and an engagement session? That's retarded.
