Need DJ Advice --and-- A Coordinator Recommendation

The one thing I have really drug my feet on is booking a DJ. Every other vendor I have booked has come from recommendations from either friends or fellow knottie brides.
I found a DJ who has a package that works wonderfully for us.  We really want up-lighting and we also need sound for our ceremony. He offers a package that covers both.  The problem is I have not found anyone who has used him, so I do not know if he does a good job. His name is Stephen Crandall with Sound Specialist DJ Entertainment.
Please give me your reviews. Give me the good and the bad!  I am also up for other recommendations.

I have also had a really positive experience with a month of wedding coordinator I wanted to pass along. Pamela Fulton Broadus with Splendid events is amazing! http://www.splendideventsllc.org
We just booked her. She just started doing this full time so she is affordable, but she is not new to event planning. She is really with it and I know she will do a great job for us! If this is something you are considering give her a shot. If you meet with her you will know just what I am talking about!!!

Just don't do Patrick Salyer with Triangle Talent. He was a disaster at our wedding. he got so drunk he vomited 7 times. They didn't even fire him.
Be leary of Triangle Talent and Sound Decision. Mike Ballard is good. 502.447.600

I have never used Sound Specialist DJ entertainment, but I have heard a lot of very good things about Mr. Crandall.  Also, I do know that he is a member of Something Blue Collective, and that says a lot about the quality of his services.

As far as Pam goes, she is wonderful!

We used a Dj that I found online and I should have listened to my instinct. When we went to our first appointment I asked him to play some of his "regulars" for the prelude and in between the ceremony and reception. I thought it sounded a little strange because they were all so different and didn't flow. I wish I listened to myself. I am one organized gal, I made a list of the genre's of music that we prefer, a song list for each part of the wedding, and he STILL managed to mess it up.  I believe that the music sets the tone for the whole wedding, so it's very important to have it running smoothly and have someone stay on top of it. You don't have to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on a dj.  Some venue's have their own Dj's that they recommend, and they may come at a competitive price .  I say you interview your DJ and have them provide a sample for your to listen to and let them know EXACTLY what you want. If you need any help let me know:)
