HELP with wedding day timeline!

Hi Knotties,
I need some help with scheduling makeup/hair times for my wedding day. My ceremony is at 4:30 downtown, and we cannot even access the church until 3pm. We will be getting ready before then at The Blackwell hotel on campus...I'm booking a make-up artist to come to the Blackwell, but don't know when to tell her to start! The entire make-up application time for bride/BP/mothers will be 2 hours and 45 minutes. Here are my questions:

1) When do I need to be "game ready" if I'm not doing a "first look"? Is 2:30 or 3 enough time to get to the church/take pre-ceremony pics?

2) Is hair usually done before or after makeup application?

Anyone have any suggestions or advice? Thanks!

    To answer your questions:

1.) I think 3pm is plenty of time to do pre-wedding pics with the BM's, Mom's, etc. You just don't want to get too hot & sweaty before you walk down the aisle. I would start the make-up between 11-11:30am just to be on the safe side. You can always sit around and chit chat if you have a few extra minutes. Or take a deep breath if you are nervous. It really does help, btw.

2.) Definitely get your hair done before your make-up. And try to wear a button down shirt (even if you have to buy a cheap one or borrow one) so that you can slip in and out easily of the shirt to put your dress on. And hopefully you will have help putting on your dress so you don't mess up your hair or make-up.

3 pm is more than enough time to have those photos taken before the ceremony. I would stop the pics around 4 though, unless you want arriving guests to see you before the wedding.

I agree with Missy about starting makeup around 11-11:30, just to make sure you have plenty of time. My mother-in-law thought she was the star of the show and was incredibly picky with her makeup and kept asking for application tips from our makeup artist. It took around 3 hours for me, my 4 person BP, MIL, and mom. My mom and half-sisters didn't need a lot of makeup, so theirs took less time than the rest of us.

And definitely get hair done before makeup. What worked for us was booking appointments at a salon so we could have multiple stylists working at once (about 3 stylists at a time and took a total of 2 hrs. 15 min), then going to the ceremony place afterwards (or in your case, hotel for makeup), and got makeup and dressed there.
