I went out tonight with some friends. This girl that I'm "friends" with and her BF are introducing themselves as Husband and wife... They've been together like 3 seconds. She turns to me and says"When you meet people you should introduce yourself as FI's wife. I mean you guys are getting married anyways and I'm sure people won't care." 


Yeah that would go over well with family and CoC.

    LOL-You'd be surprised at the number of people who do this (mostly people not mature enough for marriage, ex. My SIL)...unless you were being sarcastic. It reminds me of when girls in HS would say they were engaged/married to their BFFs on FB and what not...weird...

    I have a hard enough time introducing FI as FI. I tend to lapse back and say boyfriend. It is going to be damn near impossible for me to adjust to saying husband. I can't imagine doing it before we were engaged haha.

    It's immature to do that. It's reaching for something that she wants but doesn't have. I love calling H my husband but didn't do it until June 25th! Why ruin something exciting?

    I have a facebook "friend" who has what I *think* is a relatively new girlfriend (I haven't seen this person in years, but he emails/messages me frequently), and all his posts consist of "me and wifey" and "the 'Smith' family" (she has children from a previous relationship).  It drives me nuts that he wants to call her his wife, but even more so that he's already assigning his last name to her kids (the oldest is probably 8 or 9).

    I didn't say anything at first but on our way out I let her know that it was not okay to be lying to people and that I wouldn't be doing it. I would never deny who my FI is but I also won't be lying who he isn't. I explained to her that it could cause trouble in the military world because he has it listed as no dependents (which is correct) and I would be considered one if we we're married

    She's probably referring to her FI's CoC. Sometimes, though, because it is my personal experience, you remind me of my SIL, Kendall. Granted you are trying to meet weight standards if I remember correctly but, my SIL talks about going and always has some reason why she can't. My home MEPS put a girl in out of standards and she lost the weight in DEP. I'm just saying please don't be like my SIL. I really think you'd miss a good opportunity.

    I know tons of girls like that.  At least 6 girls in my division and at least as many guys were out of weight standards.  I went in only like 3lbs from my max...

    Sami said you have never been to boot. It made me think of SIL who is currently playing the "get in shape before I take the ASVAB card". She also wants to be a medic an that's a hot field. There will reach a point where they run out of billets. I don't want that to happen to you. Just wanted to make sure you're working on it and not putting it off.

    I haven't. I haven't even been to MEPS. I took the asvab. I have to lose weight before I can go to MEPS. I run all the time and have been changing my diet.<div>
