My fiance and I are getting married October 20, 2012. When should I be sending out the Save the Dates?

I am also getting married 10/20/12 and while it is customary to send out save the dates about 9 months in advance, I have a very large family and some will need to fly in and make necessary arrangements, therefore, I am sending out my save the dates as soon as possible.

We are getting married on Oct 22, 2011 - we sent out our save the dates at the end of January. About 9 months is plenty... most people don't think that far ahead!

Our engagement was just shy 8 months and we didn't do STDs.

I have typically received them for other weddings 6-9 months in advance. I only receive them for about 50% of the weddings to which I am invited.

I am getting Married on Saturday and I sent them out 6 months before the wedding. So far all the guest thought that was enough notice. Congrats!

We sent ours out at the end of Oct. for Sept. 3, 2011. We wanted to avoid the STD's getting mixed in with holiday cards. That way people could talk together at the holidays to plan as well.

For Oct. 20 I would probably wait until Janurary.
