Vedor reviews

Again, figured I should get this up while it's still fresh in my mind and before we leave for the honeymoon.

Venue-Sugarloaf A+
Having it at Sugarloaf was very meaningful for me because I grew up going there with my family (my parents have a house on the mountain that they worked VERY hard to provide for us growing up). But I couldn't believe how awesome they were! Everything ran very smoothly and they had plenty of people who helped the whole day! The only hiccup was that I thought they were going to set up our centerpieces so I hadn't planned on that, and then we ended up having to do it Friday. Luckily we had our whole wedding party helping and it took about 10 minutes.

Photographer-Kate Bradley Photography A+
While I obviously haven't seen the pictures yet, I know they will be awesome. Kate was AMAZING. She was really good at thinking of creative shots, but getting ones that I knew I wanted. She was also awesome at moving things along so we could get the pictures, but still enjoy the party. And she was really good at making my dress lay perfectly with the flick of her wrist!! I seriously loved her and actually ended up tipping her more than I had planned because I loved her so much!!

DJ-Maine's Premier DJ B+
He had a few hiccups I mentioned in the wedding recap, so I can't give him a perfect score. Plus we had a couple songs on our must play list that didn't get played. But that being said, he was really good at staying on schedule, moving things along, listening to requests, keeping the dance floor packed, and being fun without being obnoxious like so many DJ's I've seen.

Photo Booth-Portland Photo Booth Co A
Justin is awesome. He was so sweet, and gave us a great deal through Maine Deals, and was really good at keeping the line moving, while letting people have fun. He brought so many awesome props and everyone really loved it. The only thing that stunk was I know a few of my (not very polite) guests kept trying to run into the booth while others were in it. I wish Justin had played a little more D with them, but at the same time, you can only do so much for some of them.
Anyone else who booked him through that Maine Deals, rest assured, he was/is great!!

Cake- Heavenly Delights Bakery A+
Deb made us exactly what we wanted and it tasted delicious!!

I think that's everything. Hair was a personal friend, makeup was my sister. Sugarloaf provided catering. Let me know if I'm forgetting anything?? Hope everyone has days as smooth as mine went!!

One thing I forgot to mention is that the only downside to Kate Bradley is that she doesn't do previews so I have to wait for pictures...Luckily H's brother's g/f is great with a camera and took a ton of pictures to hold me over. :)

    Just thought of one more!

    Flowers-Daisy-A-Day C
I was really disappointed that I have to give them a C. The lady was really sweet and I was originally really excited. My dad cruised down to get the flowers (all we need were bouquets....Lanters for centerpieces) and he came back and I was so confused. We had asked for 3-4 stargazer lilies for the bridesmaids bouquets and 5-6 white lilies for mine. First, mine had like 15 flowers. It was HUGE. Then the girls' had about 3-4 but had a bunch (about 6 per bouquet) of buds (completely closed, not even close to opening) on each of them. We spent 20 unplanned minutes the before getting dressed cutting the bouqets down to what I wanted. The flowers were really nice, but I just didn't understand why they were so wrong. Especially because we went over what I wanted and she read it back to make sure she was understanding me correctly and it was perfect. Luckily we had planned everything else out so well and had the 20 minutes to spare. Otherwise, I would have been freaking out!

Glad to hear the photobooth was awesome!  I have been waiting for someone to post about this!  It's a total surprise for my guests and I cannot wait.  I had been told by multiple people that I "had" to have it, but I told them all it was way too much money.  teehee....

I'm glad that worked out too, and can't wait to hear everyone else's experiences.  I'm okay that I didn't splurge on that, but it would have been a fun addition.

As for keeping it a secret...YOU GO GIRL!  I kept my candy buffet a secret from every single person except for our event coordinator and obviously DH and it was a huge hit.  I fully encourage people to keep some things a complete surprise for everyone, even parents, the WP, etc.

We mostly kept the photo booth a surprise too. I had told my mom about it who didn't know it was a suprise and she mentioned it to me in front of my bridesmaids so they ended up knowing. But the rest of the guests didn't know and they LOVED it. A couple of girls even brought Justin into the booth with them for a few pictures. :)

And as far as keeping secrets, I completely agree with you hcorrigan. As I just wrote on the wedding recap, we kept the garter thing a complete secret (except from my MOH who helped me get strapped up) and it was a hoot!!
