Bridesmaid looking for National Guard Bride's gift suggestions!

Hi all,
My best friend is getting married in October and having a really small wedding on the military base where her and her fiance are living. She bought everything they needed for her new apartment, but she really hasn't asked for much else! I'm looking for gift suggestions for her that she can enjoy even though she is stationed on base. The only little hint I've gotten is that her fiance loves to cook and they are looking for more appliances/cookware - but I feel like that's so impersonal from a best friend!

Thanks so much,
Lisa

Only you know your best friend. I would buy as if its her birthday. I take it she doesn't have a registry. I know you think cookware is impersonal so you will probably think Cash is as well.

FTR my bestfriend and MOH got me wine glasses and I didn't think it was a lame gift at all. We drink wine together a lot so it fit. Is there something you guys did together a lot? She also researched restaurants in our new town, went online and bought us some GCs. I thought that was awesome since it took some planning and research on her end.

Have you thought about putting together a cookbook of your favorite receipes you could share with them?

Are they into sports? You could get them a pair of tickets to their local sports team (if there is one)

H and I love to watch movies, our buddy and his FI got us a popcorn maker, some popcorn, butter/seasoning and popcorn bowl and containers along with a GC to the local theater. Also awesome.

Just think personal, if you are BFFs this should be easy :)

I got my BFF the toaster from her registry, so I don't think cookware is impersonal. Granted it was a Hello Kitty toaster so it wasn't like "here's a toaster", But I also got her stuff that she said she needed like linens and I know she collects cookbooks so I got her a few of those as well.  Maybe she just doesn't feel comfortable asking for things.  For people that know me, they know that I absolutely ADORE monogrammed things.  So we got a cute set of monogrammed towels, some Mr & Mrs. Robes, and pillow cases.

I'm with Shan, she's your BFF.. this should be easy!! you know her probably better than most people, so you'll know what she likes!

I would agree something from their registry.  Two of the girls that I have known for almost 20 years got us the wine glasses we wanted, the doormat, towel set and even a salad spinner...all of then things on our list.  If you want do something special, perhaps go to Things Remembered and get her a silver picture frame with her wedding date and their last name on it.  That way they have a really pretty frame to put one of their wedding photos in.

This made me laugh because I got my BFF the toaster from her registry too when she got married.

If she has a registry I would go that route.  Those are the gifts that are kept for a very long time.  I'm a kitchen/cookware addict myself and if someone got me some that I was registered for, I would love that.  For me, it wouldn't be impersonal, it would be something I would cherish and remember.
