i was watching bridezillas and one of the girls had cupcakes at her wedding.

i loved the idea and it's something that i'm definitely interested in. however, my grandmother gave me her cake & knife set that was used at her wedding and it was also used at my great-grandparents wedding. i still would like to use it at my wedding.

would it make sense to have my bottom three tiers full of cupcakes, and my fourth tier be the one i cut? (the 5th one at the top is the one we're saving for our one year)

ideas? thoughts.. suggestions please and thank you :)

    I've seen it done that way.  Just check with your venue to make sure they don't charge you extra.  Some places charge a cake cutting fee if you bring in a cake from an outside vendor, some don't charge anything, mine charges if you bring in any type of outside desert (including cupcakes).

    We're having cupcakes with a top tier to cut (we're not saving ours). I've seen that quite a bit.

    This is what we had at our wedding.  We weren't going to save the top tier (in fact we ate the entire top tier after we got back from our HM) so we just cut into that.



    If you want to save the "top" tier then maybe do something like this...

    We had a small cake for cutting and then served cupcakes as the guests' "slices." 
    What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

    hmmm.. this is a good idea too. i'm now thinking about that because we actually live in MI. we're getting in my hometown (Atlanta) and I wasn't sure how to get the top part back to Detroit considering we aren't going to back in Detroit until like the end of October.
