Sex and The City 1 & 2

I'm curious to know what other girls think...Now fashion is heavily centered throughout both movies. I mean, it's not hard to notice what these girls wear to tell you the truth. It's suppose to make a statement.. But what I'm more inclined to know is that if you see girls/women wearing such expensive clothing..shoes..accessories, does it say something negative about the person? what's your first thought that comes to mind when you see people wearing such expensive stuff? Is having luxurious taste in life bad? Is it pointless to buy expensive things? or have expensive taste? Some women may think that it's not worth the money and that it's a waste.. Others may think, who cares if they buy all these luxury items. If they have the money, why not buy it...I'm curious what you women think? If you had the money to blow, would you go balls out shopping...start shopping for manolo blahniks than payless shoes? Chanel instead of Target? And let me state, there is nothing wrong with shopping at payless shoes or at target..I love these stores...

  • I don't see anything wrong with buying whatever you have the money to buy.  I don't think it says anything about the person's personality other than they like expensive stuff.  What I do think it is a bad idea is when a person wants this expensive or "luxurious" stuff and they go into debt to get it.  I say if you have the cash, spend it if you wish.  If you don't...shop at Payless or Target.

I honestly wouldn't know if you were wearing Gucci or Gap.  I could not care less about high end fashion... or anything beyond normal clothes.

If someone actually said to me "do you like my shirt?  It's Gucci!" then, I must admit, I'd judge them.  Get over yourself.

Now, I know this wasn't part of your question, but I hated the storyline of the first movie.  The whole thing was just ...  UGH.  This is why I haven't seen the second one.  I know what happens, though.  I really liked the show, too.
  • Ummm, I'm not really into clothes all that much.  If I had the money I probably would not be wearing Dior, Chanel, etc.  The only except when it comes to purses.  I love my Gucci purse.  This is the one area where I let myself splurge.

  • jealous.....i love my life but i would kill to be able to afford expensive/desiger clothes and shoes and HANDBAGS....i havent seen satc 2 yet but i can just imagine the outfits are more extravagant than the 1st....i dont judge people who can afford all this stuff i just think what did they do that i didnt lol
  • I personally love the clothes in the SATC show, 1, and 2.  If I had the money I would absolutely buy the stuff.  Judge me all you want.  BUT I will tell you 2 things: 1) do not put yourself in debt to dress like that
    2) I can't stand it when people dress sloppy.  I'm not saying non-designer clothes, but I cringe every time I see someone out in public in their pajamas!!  You look better and, more importantly, FEEL BETTER when you are put together!!

    What?
    This is a fantasy movie.
I've never seen anyone wearing anything close to stuff shown in these movies.
And I live in the 14th largest media market according to Nielsen TV rankings.

Where would you live to see anything like these fashions on real people?  KardashianLand in LA?  That's not common reality either.
  • i don't think there's anything wrong buying expensive or cheaper clothes/accessories/shoes etc, however, don't go into debt for expensive clothes. i went to private schools all my life, i've see lots wearing expensive clothes and those who don't. people are people, their personality is what reflect them as a person, not the LV purses they carry at the campus. FI and I both have expensive taste, but it doesn't mean we don't shop at other stores if there are things we like. for example, i'd get a cute top from H&M and go with a pair of 300-dollar jeans with 600-dollar shoes. there are also times i'd get a little black dress for under 20. is there anything wrong with it? no. though some of those H&M don't last very long cos they shrink a lot... :(  it doesn't matter how much u spend, but if you are comfortable wearing them and that they look good on you, and if you have chances to wear those clothes u get.
