Snowcones?

We are thinking of doing signature snowcones (as opposed to signature cocktails) to be served before the wedding/as guests are being seated. Since it's going to be an outdoor wedding we thought it would be nice to give the guests a way to stay cool plus my FI and I love snowcones so it fits us personally. Now the problem is figuring out how to make it happen. Does anyone know of snowcone venders in the Austin area who travel to events? (I'm not from Austin so sorry if this is an obvious question). Thanks.

I would say that your caterer might be able to do it themselves since most snow cone places used the same flavoring. If they can't, they probably know of someone that can.

Kawaii in Round Rock is really good but I have no idea if they travel.

You should check out The Chocolate Cup. We're using them for a gelato bar at the wedding and they're awesome! Paul brought out 10 samples to my house for us to decide on. They do snow cones as well

That sounds like a nice idea, but maybe you want to try something that won't stain their clothing if it gets spilled. Also, blue and green teeth don't look nice in pictures. I, personally, wouldn't want a sno cone before a wedding, even if its hot, because of those 2 staining factors.

Lemonade would be nice, though.

We were going to have 2 options. My favorite are the sugar cookies flavors which are white and don't stain. I've polled our guests and they all think it sounds fun and fits our personalities so we will probably go for it assuming I can find a vendor. Plus it's not like we are forcing people to take them.

Yeah if you want snowcones at your wedding have them! I think it's a great/fun idea! People can also spill their dinners on them (which could stain) so what are you going to do - not feed them?

I was just bringing up a point I'd be concerned about. I had no idea there were clear flavors. Having a cold beverage for your guests IS a nice idea.

There are usually a few snowcone vendors in the summer along Barton Springs Road and at the intersection of Barton Springs and Lamar (to get the kid traffic coming to and from the pool.) You could scout them out and stop and ask if they do "mobile" services.

The place in Round Rock that was mentioned in a pp, Kawaii, are far superior to any other snow cones I've had. The ice they use and the way they shave it makes it a lot easier to eat than those that you get as a kid where the ice just freezes to itself creating a gigantic ice thing that isn't manageable.

I just had to reply and tell you that is a really cute idea! I did a lemonade stand at my outdoor wedding that also had bottled water and our guests loved it! If I would've thought to have snowcones, I SO would've done it. Great idea

I have also thrown the snow cone idea around. My parents are telling me not to because the kids will spill it on their noce dress close. It's like what kids don't spill food on their clothes anyway. I emailed the The Chocolate Cup and the snow cones are $2.25 per person plus tax and the includes 12 flavors and all the other stuff (table, cups,straw/spoons, and server).

We just discovered Rita's Italian Ice on Guadalupe at 29th. It's a similar concept to the snow cone, but the ice is so much more smooth. They cater, so you might check them out.
