Dress thought....do I risk it?

I have seen a dress that I think will complement my shape..but it's from David's Bridal, it can be ordered in store only, and I am in the uk with no plans to visit the US until the wedding!

It's the Galina dress with the low waist - here's the link.

Would you risk not seeing it/trying it on until the week before the wedding? Problem I have is that I am 5'2" and always have trouble finding things to wear - never mind a wedding dress....and I think this really could be it.

Anyone done anything so rash? Anyone had experience with David's in LV?

That dress is super gorgeous- so old world hollywood!

Have you looked at the unique vintage website. The have dresses like that and at good prices and from memory will ship to the UK and have a returns policy.

All I can say is I loved that dress when I tried it on!!! I felt so glamorous...and pretty darn sexy as well.

I personally would not feel comfortable not getting to try on such an important item. I mean, if there is no doubt that is THE DRESS, and nothing compares and you know such a style would look good on you, maybe. I just would be so stressed out.

Having said that, my friend tried on that dress for her wedding, and it was truly gorgeous. I saw another bride try it on when I was trying on dresses, and it looked good on her too!

I've tried that one on too, and I'm 5'1"...it was gorgeous, but it wasn't "the one" for me. That said, I think if you're obsessed with it, and you try on some other dresses in person and don't like them and keep thinking about that one, it might be okay to risk it?

Me personally would not feel comfotable trying it the week before my wedding, especially if you need much altering.
I had a look on their site and they have a partner stockists in Ireland, still far but only an hours flight instead of 10, and defo worth it if your heart is absolutely set on it.
Where in UK are you?
You could contact the store and see what they say?

I would definitely be uncomfortable not being able to try on a dress. It's definitely gorgeous, but what if you put it on and you hate it? It really is a gorgeous dress, but you never know what you will actually like on...

Oh....yes...you HAVE to be able to try it on.....or at least have the option to return it. However, I think that dress is GORGEOUS! So glam!!!

I commissioned a dress but I don't know yet if that will choose to be a blunder or the most awesome thing ever. In my case I wouldn't have been able to try on anything I picked out myself anyways, and knew I would have been like "What if I had only taken the risk..." if I didn't go with my gut.

If it's not that expensive and you have the means in your budget, I'd say go for it. You could always re-sell.

I tried that dress on myself and almost bought it! I'm only 5'1, and I loved the way it fit me, but I went with something with a different feel.

I bought my dress without trying it on, and without the option of returning it (I got it off ebay). So it can definitely have a happy ending. But that said, I have had the dress here in my possession for almost 6 months now, so I had plenty of time to get it altered if it needed it. That tight window of time is the only thing that makes me pause because you won't have much time to get it altered or get undergarments if you need it -- or should you discover you suddenly you don't like it, you won't really have time to find a new dress.

It's a beautiful dress! But. I wouldn't feel comfortable buying it without trying it on. I went into the bridal store set on a particular dress. While it was a beautiful dress, it just didn't fit my body type.

I'm biased - since that is MY DRESS

I'd definitely try it on though - I don't think I could risk not trying it first.

Also, for me, I went in to try on something COMPELTELY different, and just happened to try this, and fell in love.

Don't risk it!

My friend ordered that dress, and DB Alterations messed it up! The boobs ended up looking pointy and cone shaped. They told her there was nothing else they could do about it, so they gave her store credit to pick out a different dress. She wished she didn't have to use DB at all after that, but she couldn't afford to lose the money she had already paid.

So we re-did the dress shopping trip, she picked out another one, and then they ordered it in the wrong color (ivory instead of white).

Know why DB says to order your dress so early? Apparently they need time to fix their own mistakes.

OK, I have made a decision. I am not going to risk it. I'll see if anywhere over here has anything like it and go from there. Otherwise - I'll just have to pop over for a visit beforehand
