Political Science (minor in Africana Studies)

I’m an Investigator for a Public Defender office

8. What is your dream job?

Attorney at law! I am currently studying for the LSAT exam and I’m scheduled to take it next month but I decided to take it in December instead. I’m still going back to forth about the kind of law I want to practice. From the beginning of time until last year, I wanted to be a Civil Rights and Criminal Defense Attorney…now I just don’t know.

9. How did you and your fiance meet?

He was a work-study Resident Assistant for Campus Safety and he used to work at the desk in my dorm building a lot. I used to see him and say “hi” when my hot pink Motorola blu-tooth was jammed I my ear. One day he invited me to a party at one of his friend’s dorm room and this is where our adventure began.

Later on he told me that he always saw me on campus (we ever had class together because we have two complete opposite majors) but I always looked so busy with that blu-tooth in my ear and he didn’t want to disturb me. Darn thing almost had me miss out on meeting my man.

The moment we fell in love?? I like to tell it but he really doesn’t like when I do lol

So…we were at a party (yes, we partied a lot) and I drank for the first time. What did I drink? Everything! Dark, lite, white, you name it…everything on that darn table. I got real sick and was puking my stomach out (gross I know) and my head stayed in that toilet for a while. He held my hair back and stayed with me on the floor…since then we’ve always held each other up. I love him to pieces.

SN: I woke up with no pants on the next day, on the couch and he said in the middle of the “early am” I took them off...I still make fun of him about that -_-

10. When did you get engaged and how did he do it??

LOL…umm…well, was home watching Law & Order in our bed with tears in my eyes because he didn’t ask me yet and then all of a sudden he came in our bedroom, got on his knees and said “I know we’ve been through a lot in our relationship but…will you marry me?” I was so caught up it took me a while to say (at least I think I did lol) and he placed the ring on my finger

The ceremony will be at my church, St. Paul Community Baptist Church. We are planning on having a backyard reception.

Teal, Orange and (brown? Still thinking of a third)

14. Where are you honeymooning?

Our dream honeymoon is Madagascar, Africa but it is sooo expensive. We are thinking of celebrating our nuptials in Aruba

15. Favorite wedding vendor so far?

My photographer, I went to high school with her and she takes beautiful photos. She’s a teacher by day and photog by night…

16. Biggest wedding splurge?

The Church, my dress and our honeymoon.

17. What is something you wish you could have at the wedding but don't?

I wish I could have my grandpa. He passed away last March and I know he would have been so happy to see his oldest grandbaby walk down the aisle. My second wish…David Tutera! He could turn this budget bride’s wedding into her dream wedding J

EVERYONE! I LOVE food and cake J j/k Msbdumas, she’s cool and I LOVE her ideas. I sneak every now and then to peep her inspiration updates lol There was one other kotie but she's not on the board anymore, Ms. Sultry

19. Favorite book? The Autobiography of Malcolm X and I LOVE romance novels (not the cheesy kind).

20. Favorite movie? Anything wedding, romance or “expecting” themed…I don’t know what’s up with me lately I love the Notebook and The Green Mile.

21. Favorite tv show? Do you have to ask? I think I’ve mentioned it too much on this board lol LAW & ORDER…(*whispers* my ratchet pleasure is L&HHA and shows like that…shhhh)

23. Any advice you can give? *breathe and enjoy* (I should take my own advice I am learning to let go and let God. What’s most important is that I marry my love, my lover, my heart…my ace boon!

24. Anything you wish you could change about your wedding? As long as I’m marrying him… I wouldn’t change a thing unless we won our wedding or the lotto and don’t have to pay a dime!

I’m a sweetie until crossed. Sometimes (a lot lol) my mouth gets me in trouble because I speak my mind. I don’t sugar coat enough. This fire within me is what keeps me sane and allows me to pull through whatever comes my way. It drives me to my dreams in life whether career or otherwise. My passion is helping people and advocating for those who are unable to. I love to cook, bake and I enjoy good books.

I can't watch these movies. I'll be in the bed crying for HOURS. I read the green mile, but i haven't watched ANY of those movies for THAT reason.

I used to have a friend whose "good man" criteria had a few bullet points, the number one of which was: is he the kind of man who will hold your hair back when you are choking up your guts from chemo treatments? if, so, definite keeper. you don't get any points deducted for having a less, ahem, noble cause but tell James I cyber high five him for that.

We've been dating for 6 loongg years (7 in February) so I was thinking about that. CONGRATS!!!

My daughter did her freshman and sophomore yrs at St. John's also.. Now she is at home... That school is expensive for an out of stater..

Aruba is going to beautiful if that is where you guys decide to go!!!

That school is too expensive for someone in-state too! It's ridiculous. My FI stayed there and graduated but I got fed up and threw up my deuces lol I did two years and left. I'm so fed up that I'm not even THINKING about applying to their law school.

I know exactly how you feel on both aspects. FI's dad passed in January and its nothing we would want more than for him to be there. And GIRL. I'm OBSESSED with David Tutera. I watch his show all the time. I think he is every brides wish.! Lol.
