Merry Christmas to me =]

So I just have to say that I am BEYOND ecstatic for New Years this year! FI wasn't able to come home for Thanksgiving and won't be able to for Christmas either, so this year the holidays just aren't the same. I set him a box filled with 7 pounds of homemade Christmas cookies. Yes, 7 pounds. That's what the scale at the post office said.

Anyway.....since he can't come home for the holidays, I'm bringing the holidays to him! I'm flying out December 30th =] I know this is still a pretty decent price for this time of year, but let me tell you, the $450 plane ticket will be well worth it. We've been living long distance for 3 out of the 4 years we've been together, and this year I finally get my first New Years kiss in 3 years. Merry Christmas and happy new year to me =]

  • Thanks Sami! That's a bummer that you guys won't be able to spend New Years together though. That midnight phone kiss just isn't the same as a real one. I hope it's not too long before you get to see him!

Enjoy you time together! I have often done those expensive plane trips for just a weekend. It seems like a lot of money, but when you factor in you aren't spending $100 every weekend for dates, it makes it easier for me to drop $500 on a weekend. =)

FI and I won't be spending New years together. But it is okay because we are seeing each other for Christmas.

ETA - Hope I didn't come off as a snot with the whole $100 weekly dates, We never had those when we were in the same state (we were poor), but some couples I know would spend that on just drinks.

  • We'll definitely enjoy our time together =] I'm normally able to get a plane ticket from MN to Cali for anywhere from $250-$350, so this was more than what I'm used to spending. But like you said, when you're not able to go on weekly date nights or things like that, it makes it very easy to want to spend that much for a plane ticket.

I'm glad you'll be able to spend Christmas with each other Amanda! I hope you enjoy your time together as well! =]
