Invitations

I'm VERY picky about invitations and am having a hard time finding ones I like (and well, ones that are affordable that I like).  I have only come across a couple of websites (vista print, 123, birch craft).

So.... Where are you getting your invitations?

Re: Invitations

  • I am having the same issue. I cannot for the life of me find anything that I would remotely consider buying! I have found some really cute inspirations for possible DIY ideas on Etsy. They have a lot of printable designs that you can purchase and then have printed on your own. I was thinking of doing this and then attaching them to a pocket fold. You can get pocket folds and all the things to go with it at a pretty good price at pocketsandcards.com.

Other websites you may want to try: Wedding Paper Diva, Zazzle, Magnet Street, Exclusively Weddings, Etsy and David's Bridal has invites as well.

  • Oo I didn't think of etsy!  I'll have to check those others out as well!

I don't have enough faith in myself to make them on my own.  Kudos to the girls who are making their own though!

  • I'm technically DIYing mine - buying a kit from Michael's (or somewhere like that) and printing them myself lol.  I'm still on the hunt though.  I'm also still solidifying colors, so there's that.

  • We bought the one DIY from Micheal's. I was being really picky but also didn't want to spend hundreds on invitations. So this was the next best thing and they actually look really nice.

  • We're either choosing to go with a seller on Etsy, or having the FI design them and print them ourselves.  He's started playing with them already and we have a mock one made up, but we need it to be a higher resolution before having them printed.  Therefore, I'm leaning towards Etsy.  The price to pay someone else to design it is worth it to me.  They fill in your data and send you the high resolution pdf so that you can print yourself anywhere.  I like that kind of deal.

am not a huge DIY person either, but if you do get them from Etsy, you can always have them print the invites, buy the pockets online and then all you would have to do is double-side tape the printed invites to the pockets and insert the response card etc. Some Etsy sellers even print the address on the envelopes for you. So it is only semi-DIY but easy enough for those of us that aren't as patient to do a big project, such as myself :).

For my first wedding I found a kit at hobby lobby.  (watch for sales they are 1/2 price!)  I didn't like them 100% so I added a lil locket to them and printed in color ink and dyed the bows the color I wanted.  While it took a while it def saved me money.  No idea what I am doing this time around!

  • We bought a kit from JoAnn's when I had a 50% off coupon. Honestly, I didn't care what they looked like (I'm a horrible bride lol).
