I posted this on FB but wanted to do the same here. (If you read it there, you can skip this post!)
Hi ladies! I’m finishing up packing for my honeymoon and wanted to check in before Peter and I leave for Mauritius and South Africa tomorrow morning.
First of all, I am the luckiest girl in the whole world. My friends and family went above and beyond and our wedding day was truly the most amazing day of my life.
I was so incredibly stressed out for the whole week leading up to the wedding so I am SO happy that I took that week off. It was all worth it though because the wedding turned out perfectly. Seriously, NOTHING went wrong. Although it rained (POURED) all morning, it stopped raining at exactly 2pm, which was when the bridal party limo arrived to take the boys to the church. I had all the purported “luck” of the rain on your wedding day without having to deal with the rain at all! Plus, it cooled the temperature down about 10 degrees too so it was low-80s all day and was down to low 70s at night with zero humidity. It was amazing and made for gorgeous light for pictures.
I suppose you could say one thing did kind of go wrong. During the church ceremony, one of Peter’s friends knocked over some of the hosts during Communion so the priest was scrambling to pick the body of Christ off the floor for about 2 full minutes. And when I say 2 full minutes, I'm not exaggerating. It was pretty funny but also SO bad and I know Peter's friend was so embarrassed. Hahahaha oh well.
The reception was impeccable. The food was the best I've ever had at a wedding, the raw bar was a massive hit, the band was unreal, and each one of the vendors went out of their way to do special things for us all day. I was in awe of how perfect it all was. The photos barely do it justice.
Anyway, I would love to write a whole lot more but I’m exhausted and waking up at 6 to finish up packing and leaving for our (15 hour, then 4 hour) flights.
I will come back sporadically over the next two weeks, and I’m sure Peter will be uploading photos from Africa, but I won’t be able to stalk you until I come back! To all of you getting married while I’m gone, have the most incredible days ever.
