Jewelry for bms

I really want to make jewelry for my bms. Since all my girls are wearing a different dress with different necklines, I'm at a loss on what to make them.

Anyone have any suggestions? Any links or pics you can suggest to me? All the dresses are in my bio. Also, what color would look best? Silver or black or white? or something else??

TIA!

I'm really loving the haute bracelets that are all the rage on the DIY board.  If you go to the board and go to the mod's bio she has good pictures and instructions (five strands of pearls with a brooch holding it together - really classic and pretty).  The white of the pearls would pop against your girls' green dresses and maybe you could find brooches with blue stones (I quickly found a this one - http://www.fashionjewelryforeveryone.com/BroochStatic/B311.html ).

Do they necessarily all need to be the same? The problem is that one dress that's a halter neck. Usually, people I know don't wear necklaces with halters. My inclination of that snafu would be to make them all bracelets and earrings then, if you want them all the same. I would do silver or white so it shows up well, but I also think your blue with silver would be pretty. However, I just got left alone and work just exploded so I need to be good and go away now. :D  (By the way, there's the jewelry and gem show this weekend at the Qwest convention space I'm thinking of going to if you were interested in coming with!)

I really like some of your dresses! I wish the green BM dress I'm wearing in June were that cute. ::scowl::

I think they can all be the same or different. I would pick something that hangs down a bit if you go all the same because I think that looks best with a halter neckline and could go with all the others, too.

I'm always in favor of letting them wear their own jewelry, lol, and I like gold with green (if the shoes are gold). If you really want to make something though, silver would look nice too if they're wearing silver shoes.

Here's a pic of me wearing a halter-style dress with a necklace. I miss my short hair!

Hmm...sounds like SOMEONE will be doing a post wedding chop soon? ;)

Actually, I think the mixed necklace Jenny posted up a while ago (I think it had glass gems?) would work well since the girls have different styled dresses.  JMO.

Having seen some of your BM dresses in person, I don't think a necklace will work for all of them.  Specifically that keyhole top dress.  Also, while I love the "haute" bracelet PP suggested, your dresses seem too modern for that.  Do all of your girls have pierced ears?  How about earrings instead?  Or a headband/hair flower?

Or, do they even have to be the same? Could do necklaces and just do a bracelet for the halter. Some halters are fine with necklaces (such as Melissa's PIP with the nice rack Wink) but that keyhole one wouldn't be.

yeah.. i forgot about the keyhole.. i'd love for them to wear their own jewelry but i wanted to make jewelry.. maybe i just need to forget about it. i think the haute bracelett is too nice looking to go with their dresses.. haha. like to fancy.

Oh yeah I missed the keyhold dress. And the halter one is kind of a weird shape. lol. I think I was too focused on being envious of the one on the top right. lol.

I am debating the post-wedding chop. I like that style but I like my long hair, too. Short hair isn't any easier for me because my hair is thick and wavy so I have to style it everyday if it's short. I do this all the time...go short, grow it out, back to short...

FWIW, I went to Shipwreck Beads in Lacey this past Sat with co-workers who are both into beading and um....yeah.  It probably would have cost me less to just BUY already made jewelry for them.  But of course I want to get them the nicer stuff, I love crafting, etc. *sigh* Now part of me is wondering if I bit off more than I can chew. I am looking forward to it, but then, it's just another project.

Melissa - I know what you mean.  I really want to do a post wedding chop, but I kind of like having long hair.  Drives me nuts!  So many pros and cons to each!  But I probably will.  It's been YEARS since I had short hair and I wouldn't mind not having to worry too much about my hair for a while.

I have decided to just buy my BM's earrings. But I got a lot of ideas on Etsy. Because 99% of them are handmade - I was like "I can do that!!" Take a look around the site & see if it gives you some ideas...

I make and sell jewelry on Etsy, and a lot of inquiries come in about from brides who want to make their own jewelry for their bridesmaids.  Depending on how much time you have to make them, you could do it - you wouldn't have to do anything particularly fancy, just the fact that you, the Bride, made it is much more valuable anyway.  Before I started to sell my work, I did this as a hobby and I made necklaces for my friend's wedding.  Everyone really appreciated the very simple colored pearl necklace and earrings I had made for bridal party, and they still use their jewelry today.

A bracelet and earrings would look really nice!  Keep it simple so you can focus on the details, and you're set =)
