Card Box

So I have spent some time on the DIY board to get ideas for what I'd like to do for my wedding. I love the idea of having the card box for the reception. I was about 80% done last night when I decided I didn't like the direction it was going and took of the flowers and some paint (yay for latex easy to peel off paint!).

/ They make it look so easy in their posts... I guess I lack artistic talent lol.

Are any of you going to be doing a card box?

I'm planning to do a cardbox too! I bought the round boxes but havent decided how I want to do it yet. I have been looking at a bunch of pictures but havent found what I want yet. Best of luck!!

I made mine and loved it so much i made an advice box to go with! I also just made one for Fiance's cousins wedding, What didnt you like?

Here's my card box, I got 5 boxes at an antique store for like $14. Material and used hot glue. I painted the letters to match,

Here's the Advice box, I created a wedding day mad lib to use instead of a guest book and people will put them in here after the fill them out

And here's the box i started and have to finish for fiance's cousin, I have to add the work 'cards'

Shannon, I love your boxes! They are so pretty!

Here is what I had done...

I took all the flowers off the bottom portion. I'm thinking I just don't like that many flowers. But the more I look at the top the more I think I want to take the top 2 flowers off as well! I was thinking of only having 3 flowers on the bottom row. That way there's not too much going on. I have the word CARDS painted green and I plan on putting them on the bottom box.

I just don't know about the whole thing. Everything behind my wedding has an understated elegance to it (or at least that's the goal)... and this box doesn't seem to go anywhere near that! lol

I really personally preferred the way material looked over paint, but it was tough to get right on the rounded boxes.

Now don't take this the wrong way, cause I like your box, but some options are to minimalize the flowers just a few on top if the word cards is going on bottom or vice versa, maybe add some gemstones to the letters or something, Or possibly try a different color flower, maybe you just need a contrast?

The bottom row of flowers has already been removed. I may stop at Joann's and get some fabric to play with... maybe that will give me a better look. I think I'm just going to play around with it and see what I like best and if I have to buy a 2nd set of boxes to use for my final product then I will.

Initially I wanted to use ribbon but I can't even successfully make a bow! lol So I tried the flowers. We'll see what I can do come next pay day.

a friend of mine bought the bow dabra and I used it and now know how to make a few different bows, the bows on top of my boxes are literally just short strands looped and glued, so that i could add or take away if it was too much or too little.

I had a card box epiphany last night! lol I changed a few things around and added some other items and so far I am loving it! I should be able to complete it tonight and I will post pictures as soon as I finish it!

I love the idea of a birdcage for the cards...i haven't figured out where or how to decorate it, but i think it would be really cute. I am still looking for the right size and stuff....
