Still Looking for My Wedding DJ?

Getting married in Aug 2011 and refuse to spend a $1000 on my music.  I've had a recommendation for Jason of JP Artistic Entertainment, but I know very little.  Does anyone have comments or maybe a suggestion?     The rates are great!  But is it too early to book or be looking?

I need some help ladies!

    Nope definitely not too early to be looking and/or booking. We booked our DJ last year for our 2011 wedding!

    I do not know anything about your DJ but there are a ton of recommended vendors on the CT list & they all came from Knotties!

    I don't have any recs for under $1000 but I can say that it's not too early. We booked our DJ last year (August, maybe) for June 2011. I was just excited to start planning and one minute I was just researching DJs, the next I was making appointments.

    Definitely not too early!

    We're using Tom Salatto from Starry Nite Entertainment and it's only costing us $800 for the whole reception. He owns his own business, so you're only paying for the dj.. not the dj and the company like most places. HTH!

    I booked Jason for my wedding in Sept. His rates are great and I got alot of great feedback about him (never seen him in action). He also did the NYE party at Mohegan this year and I have a contact at the casino that also said very good things.

    We are using Jason Palermo (DJ Melee) for our May 2011 wedding. We booked him in February. Def not too early because he's already booking into 2011, and I believe he is totally full for the rest of 2010. We really clicked with him, and he seems very professional. He also offers dance floor lighting, uplighting, and gobo lighting. His prices are totally unbeatable.

    As a side note, I went to a bridal show this weekend where The Music Man was mc'ing the fashion show/prize giveaway and he seemed really cheesy. I was getting really annoyed listening to him, and was feeling very grateful at that moment that my DJ is cool.

    We also booked Dj melee for our wedding in October and clicked with him too. Prices are really good and agree with PP.
    We will put out reviews after the wedding.

    try Local Motion. We were originally going to go w/ them and I think it was $800. There is no website though, you have to call and talk to them. They were highly recommended by my venue

    We booked Jason Palermo for our July 2010 wedding.  He is down to earth, professional, up to date with music and equipment, and we liked him instantly.  He rates are also unbeatable.  I will def post reviews after the wedding!

    LOCALMOTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BILLY IS HIGHLY RECCOMENDED! I love him, he and Geoff are awesome im not even kidding and I am PICKY!!! We are paying $750 for a thursday night wedding and all of my other vendors know and love these guys as well...I believe they do have a website up now either way the number is 203-468-6684 GL

    We were thrilled with John Arden Music out of Long Island.  The company combined DJ plus live music We had all of the following:

    Live musician for the cocktail hour
    DJ/MC
    Live musician to alternate during the reception
    Sing along piano bar for an after party

    The DJ portion was only $700, the extras were very reasonable.  They were professional and helped me organize an entire music schedule LOVED THEM!!!!
