Wedding Woes

i need to complain. LONG

my sister was here this weekend, and we had a long talk about my brother.

side note -- we went shoe shopping, and i bought a pair of dark bronze ballet flats that she okayed.  i was pointing out some of the other ones i was considering, and she said, "oh, you've just given up on life, huh?  mmkay" and i put them back.  she disapproves of jessica simpson (shoes and in general) and a few other brands, so i was limited in my selection.

i asked her about this woman our brother has been seeing (the one who pulled wedding reception menus after only having dated for three months), and she told me that it was a lot of drama about nothing, which is always the way things are with my brother.  she told me a bunch of other details, and i said, "i know we only met her that once, but after hearing all of this, i don't think i like her."

sister was tres surprised about that (idk why; we are cut from the same judgey cloth) but she told me to give this woman some time.  i think she knows it will really hurt my brother if i don't like her.

this woman just raises too many flags for me.  did i mention that she wants my sister to plan the wedding and that she wants my parents to pay for half the reception?  my brother hasn't even considered asking her to marry him!  he thinks it's too soon but she's trucking ahead.

i want to tell him to kick this woman to the curb for this alone, but my sister says to wait and see.  maybe i will; maybe i won't.

i'll tell you one thing -- my kid isn't going to be trucked down the aisle in a wagon as their ring bear.

This woman does sound nuts.  Does your sister hate your brother and want to see him saddled with a crazy woman?

I hate it when my siblings don't join in me the judgement of others.  Because like you said, we're cut from the same cloth.

    It makes me all stroppy.

I'm thinking your sister just wants to plan a wedding, and doesn't care that the woman is crazy.  But that is me making up stories again.

How exactly does one go about informing one's boyfriend's parents that they'll be paying for half of their pretend wedding?

Please. By the time this wedding actually happens, Baby Mo will be able to stomp down the aisle all by himself. No wagon needed.

And your post makes me wish I had a sister. Or just someone to shoe shop with. H is useless.

my sister already said that she will absolutely NOT plan this wedding.  when dh pointed out that she planned our wedding, i told him that it's very different to say "no" and "shut up" to someone else's parents; with our parents, we say it all the time.

i  think sister is adopting a "wait and see" attitude.  frankly, i've seen enough and want it to stop.

oh, and this woman apparently told my brother that she wants my parents to pay half.  i don't think my brother is stupid enough to tell my parents this, but if he is, i suspect they will be sitting down next to me on my picnic cloth of judgement.
