When to send shower invites?

the ladies asked my mom for the guest list today, then my mom asked me when should the invites be sent out.
I said likely a month before? Is that accurate??

    That's what etiquette says but my cousin sent her shower invites out 8 weeks in advance.  I have to say that made me very happy because we are really busy and it was nice to know ahead of time so I could go.

    If your shower is anywhere near the summer then I would send them out at LEAST 4 weeks in advance.  People are really busy during summer months and most people appreciate the notice.
