cleaners

I should always remember that if it seems too good to be true it probably is.  I finally found a place that will clean and press my wedding dress, I went and dropped off the dress earlier this week and was told it would cost 25.00.  well, today I get a call from the manager that I was given mis-information and that the cost will actually be 52.00...oh boy, well what was I going to do.  what really bugs me is that I sent a nice email praising the customer service person that I worked with and when the mistake was found they didnt offer to do anything for me, a 10% disc would have been nice.  oh well.

Is anyone planning on having their dress sealed after the wedding?  i havent even considered this.  what are your thoughts?

  • As of now...I'm thinking I might try to sell mine!  Maybe I'll feel differently/more attached after my Big Day :)

  • I went ahead and got the $90 or whatever David's Bridal preservation kit so I'll mail it in after the wedding and they'll send it back preserved with my veil and everything.

I want to display my dress eventually Adrienne Maloof style! (From real housewives of Beverly Hills...guilty pleasure of mine). She has her dress in like a giant shadow box hanging in her massive closet.

  • I will also be using DB preservation kit. If you got your dress there you get so much money off so it seems like a pretty good deal to me. My sister who got married 4 years ago was able to get it at the discounted price when I got mine a few weeks ago.

  • I also bought the preservation kit from DB. I want to keep my dress, even if it's never worn again. Maybe in 50 years I'll break it out of the box.
  • I haven't decided yet. I probably won't do anything to preserve it right away. I have some friends who get together once a year at someone's house and drink in their wedding dresses and I'm looking forward to joining the club!

  • I dont plan to seal it no. I have contemplated selling it. Though my sister was like "No way" (which is funny since she got married 3 years ago and hasnt even had her dress cleaned from her wedding).
Luckily my FFIL owns a dry cleaners, so at least I won't have outrageous cleaning fees afterwards!
