Shoes & Jewelry for BMs

Hi! I'm having a very hard time finding jewelry & shoes for my bridesmaids. They are wearing style # F13721 from David's Bridal in GUAVA with an Ivory sash around the waist. First, I'm not sure if I want to go with silver or gold... I'm leaning towards silver for both the shoes and jewelry because I think I want to get the girls rhinestone hoop earings and some type of rhinestone necklace. But I also thought gold shoes would look nice, but I don't really like the thought of gold jewelry. I would also be open to other colors or even dying the shoes to match the dress color, but I'm still having a very hard time finding anything that I like. I'm trying to keep the shoes under $40 & the jewelry under $20. What does everyone think about silver vs. gold? And does anybody have any suggestions of where to find this stuff within my budget?

I would honestly just let them pick out their own silver shoes and accessories. They don't need to match, and they'll be much more comfortable in stuff they picked out themselves.

Do the jewelry and shoes have to match on each girl? Could you just go with matching shoes and let the girls pick their own jewelry? Remember if you "require" the jewelry, then it's not a gift

Ditto opalsky. Let them choose their own jewelry, that way they can wear something they maybe already have. And just tell them what color shoes so they can do the same thing or buy a new pair that are comfortable for them.

I say let them pick it out themselves. It will save you the headache of having to find matching items and them the pain of having things they wont wear again.

I totally disagree. Since your dress is short- I think it's nice to have the girls wear all the same shoes. I can understand letting them choose when they have long dresses- but with the short ones, it just looks so much nicer if they are all wearing the same shoes. (P.S. Love the BM dress- I also had this on my list!)

I found the shoes I picked for my girls at payless! They are super nice and only 26 dollars. I know one of my girls (cousin) had a concern with the heel height (she's pretty tall), but I only asked them to wear them for the ceremony and pictures. After that they can put on whatever the heck shoes they want.

I think silver would go great with the dress! Good luck.

Well, my bridesmaids wore non-matching shoes with their short dresses, and it looked just fine.

I'll re-iterate that I think it's not cool to make everyone wear the same shoe if it's not comfortable for them. Unlike a dress, you can't alter a shoe to fit. And who is going to spend the ceremony looking at your bridesmaids' feet anyway?

I'm glad that I didn't require a shoe for my bridesmaids. It would have backfired anyway. On my wedding day, half of them were recovering from knee and ankle injuries. No matching heels for us!

Thanks for everybody's input. I'd prefer all the bridesmaids to have matching shoes since their dresses are short, but I would never make them wear a shoe that was uncomfortable for any of them. In a case where I can't find something that everyone loves, I'll definitely consider letting them pick their own shoes and jewelry. However, I still didn't see many opinions on my original question about silver vs. gold???? (except for smore... thanks!) I was also wondering if anybody knew of places where I could find some options that kept the budget low (for me or for my BMs if they end up choosing their own and want to purchase new). So, going back to my actual questions....... What does everyone think about silver vs. gold? And does anybody have any suggestions of where to find this stuff keeping the budget low (smore: I'll check out Payless, thanks!)?

I'd say silver, but that's probably just because I personally tend to prefer it. Yet another vote for letting them pick their own stuff. My girls mostly wore short dresses, and you really can't tell the difference between their shoes. If you want, you could give them some basic guidelines (pumps, strappy sandals, etc) so that they look similar. But really, if people are looking at your bridesmaid's feet, you've done something wrong with your ceremony.

Shoes are super personal and you should just pick a color. I'd go with silver if you want a metallic. I've told my bridesmaids black, and I don't care if they're sandals, flats, heels, whatever. They are also in short dresses, FWIW. No one will be looking at their feet.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm not putting shoes over my friends' comfort and I'm certainly not forcing any of them to 'step down'. This post was simply intended to be about opinions on the color of shoes and where to get jewelry/shoes on a budget, regardless of who is buying them and regardless of who wears what. I understand that it is a public forum and I cannot control the responses that come in, but this is getting a little out of control now. I'm sorry to hear of your bad experiences with shoes in the weddings that you have been in and that is quite ridiculous that the bride would do that to you.

But if you're giving them basic guidelines and letting them choose their own, you don't really need to know where to shop. Presumably they'll go to the places they're familiar with if they don't already own something suitable. Letting them accessorize themselves makes it no longer your concern in any way.

I understand that my statement in the post that you highlighted is not letting them pick their own. However, in some of my posts, I was hypothetically referring to 'a case where they get basic guidelines and choose their own' (hence the first sentence of my last post), in order to get an answer to my question. Also, thank you for your opinion and input, I truly understand where you're coming from. However, not everyone is the same and I'll make that judgement call when it comes to my own BMs since I'm closest to them and know them the best. Since I'm obviously not getting the answer to my original questions, I'm going to stop discussing a moot point here and will figure everything out on my own. Thanks to everyone who did answer my questions... I think I'll go with silver.

I think either gold or silver would look good. I personally love gold jewelry, but I know many people prefer silver, what do the majority of your BMs prefer (so there's a higher chance of them wearing it again)?

If they're just going to wear for the wedding, there's tons of stuff at Claire's, H&M, or even Forever 21. But before you buy any jewelry, make sure no one has sensitive skin (in which case you'd obviously have to get real silver or gold, which would make things much more expensive).
