Converting a by-hand drawing to invitation - help!

Hi all, I'm new here - first post!

I have a question about printing the invitation itself (going to get all pockets and other fun things from paperandmore.com).  My brother is an artist and will be drawing a lovely, simple pen-and-ink on our invites.  Does anyone know where I would take the drawing to have it printed on the 5x7 invites?  I think the tricky part will be printing the drawing with the accompanying invitation text next to it.  I want it to look crisp but I do not have the budget to spend loads of $$$$$ on a fancy custom printer.  I am perfectly happy with flat printing and using only one or two colors.

Thanks for any assistance or ideas.  Much appreciated!

  • You'll probably need to turn it into an image file first by scanning it into your computer.  Once you have the image file, you can print it pretty much anywhere that does invitation printing.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I recommend you take the drawing to a local print shop, like OfficeMax, Staples, or something locally owned in your area, and have them scan the drawing at a high resolution (600dpi or so).  Then, that image can be put on your invites along with the words, and you can have it printed at that same place that scanned it.

Check out the paper section of my bio - I purchased a drawing off etsy of a dahlia to put on our invites.  The artist digitized it for me and I have used it in most of our paper goods so far.

  • Thanks so much!  I called a local print shop and they were super helpful (and much more reasonable than I thought they'd be).  I appreciate the advice :D
