help with publisher

hey ladies, so i made an invitation in publisher and selected the size to be 5x7, well 7x5 and now when i am trying to print it, it is still printing in the middle of the page on my 81/2 x 11 so when i put my invitation paper in its printing on 1/2 of it, can anyone help me? did i save it wrong? Is there a way to save it small into a pdf?

Re: help with publisher

  • if there is i cant find it :(

  •  here is a better idea of whats going on.
  • i have the page set to 7x5 and when i hit print i even set that to 7x5 but its still not working, i am tempted to take a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet and cut little slits into it and put my invitation in it to print, but then i would need to do one by one.
  • yes, no luck! id love to just crawl under my desk and cry about now :)
  • Can you take a screenshot of the print window?  Also, check the printer settings themselves.  Sometimes, if you miss one box, it'll overwrite the settings that get sent.

  • even that little window on the side where it shows the preview i can tell its printing on 8 1/2 x 11 by how much room is on each side
  • i made a pdf thinking it would make it as a 5x7 and it didnt, it just prints in the middle of the page like the publisher one. i am thinking a printing place soon i am just upset because i bought pre cut paper and they wont use it there.
  • invitation is 5x7 i made it so the paper is set to the size i think.
  • im going to go home and try it again a few different ways on that printer (i am at work) and hopefully my printer is a little better.
  • It's probally an issue with your printer driver.  Is the page setting on the PRINTER's driver set to 5x7?  Is there a setting on the printer, either when you load the paper or in the printer options window that says 5x7?  Doesn't matter if Publisher sees it as 5x7, if the printer thinks it's a full page, it can override that.  Same with PDF files.  You have to set a custom PDF page size of 5x7 to make it create a 5x7 PDF page.

    ^^ how do i do this?
  • When you choose the the PDF printer, click on Properties.  In that window, click on the Adobe PDF settings tab, then where you see the PDF page size, click Add.  That gives you a new window where you type in the name and size.  Click OK, choose that size and click OK.  You might have to rechoose the page size; sometimes after adding a new size it doesn't quite catch.  Now, if you have some third-party PDF writer, I'm not sure these steps will work, but this is if you're using the actual Adobe writer.  Also, depending on your printer, you might be able to do the same thing with the print properties, but as printers vary so much, I can't really help on that.  ^_^;

    So, you don't have the option to print to a PDF file?
