ceremony music

I am in search of a person or persons for our ceremony music. Pretty open about what kind (quartet, keyboard, harp would be cool). I will be having an outdoor wedding next year and the ceremony will only be about 45 minutes. I really do not want to spend more than $100/$150 (am i being realistic?)

TIA for recommendations. our wedding will be in milwaukee.

My church organist charges $100/hr.  You might get more than one musician if you aim for college students.  True professionals will be at the top of your budget.  My trumpeter charged $150 for the ceremony.  The Milwaukee String Quartet is $695 for the 1st hour.

I agree with the college suggestion.  Most musicians in college have at least 7 years of experience, so they are good musicians.  If you have access to a college (UWM, Marquette, etc), I would do a bit of research to find out where the music building is on campus and then post a flyer that you are looking for a "violinist, flutist, etc" to play your wedding on x date.  I would list what you will pay and the time involved and even the music you want performed if you know.  This way they can contact you.  I would think earning you as a reference would be incentive for students to take the gig.

The only part I would be a bit nervous about is booking a student so far in advance.  I have struggled with this idea myself for hiring servers.  I feel like hiring a month in advance would have a better chance of working out than a year in advance, but also don't want to leave a key piece unscheduled that close to the date!
