BM dress as wedding dress?

My original thought for my wedding dress is simple style, which I think it's supposed to be much cheaper as I'm on a tight budget.

By searching online these days without any results, I start thinking if I can buy a BM dress and use it as my wedding dress?  Idk if my idea is too far or anyone out there had/has that kind of thought like me?

I know not all of BM dresses are suitable as a wedding dress, I chose a few styles, and I need you ladies opinions.

Here we go:

If you have any recommended dresses, pls send me the links or inspiration pics.

Thank you!

Re: BM dress as wedding dress?

  • Any of those would be perfect and they're all great choices for a wedding dress!  The style will depend on what you want for your wedding... formal, casual, beach, night, afternoon, back yard, country club.
    Have fun!
  • You can absolutely wear a bridesmaid dress (or prom dress, or evening gown) as a wedding dress.  I personally like the first one best, but any of those dresses would be fine.

  • I voted for the first one. I'm a little biased though; I don't really like shorter dresses. Personally I think the last one looks a little cheap.
  • I'm going to be keeping myself open to this option once it's time for me to start shopping. My personal style says the third, but as a previous poster said, any of them would be appropriate.

I've used The Knot's BM dress search and filtered it by dresses that come in white/ivory. There are a ton of them out there, depending on your preference.
  • I really love the first dress, it's very pretty.

This is definitely a great way to save money. I was thinking about getting an ivory BM dress and wearing it as a reception dress once the dancing starts.

  • They're all pretty and there is absolutely nothing "inappropriate" about choosing a BM dress.  "Wedding dress" prices are totally outrageous and all of those dresses are pretty - you'd look great in any of them :)  I voted #2 FWIW.  I like short wedding dresses.
  • It's absolutely OK to go with a BM dress. All of those are beautiful, so the question is what's your personal style, and what's your wedding style. Personally I love the short ball gown - it gives off an energy of fun and whimsy. #1 is classic, and #3 is a little more relaxed and puts me in the mind of an outdoor country wedding.
  • I think all of them are beautiful and would work well as a wedding dress!

I personally do not think that there is anything wrong with going the reasonable route and opting for a BM dress instead of a pricey bridal gown.  I was definitely looking to go the same route but I lucked up and found my wedding dress on the clearance rack at Alfred Angelo for only $240.

The 1st dress is my favorite.  You can basically wear that and add expensive looking accessories, like a blinged out sash or a beautiful brooch.

    Anyway, Good luck :)

  • I think those styles would look great. But, don't order from them, I think it's a knock off site. There are plenty of beautiful BM dresses that are originals and would work great!

  • I voted for the first one. I like it a lot. Nothing wrong with wearing a BM dress! Just be careful about the website- make sure it's legit before buying from there!

  • I had a friend that bought a BM dress for her wedding and I wouldn't have known if she didn't tell me. I think it's a great way to save money. I like the first one best. Good luck

  • Watch the websites you order from- knock-offs from China are usually heartache and lost money.
