Who's spending $10,000 or less?

Hi girls.  I'm helping someone find venues.  Her entire budget soup to nuts is $10,000.  They have a guest list of 215 but trying to get it to 175.

She wont be using a photographer
She found a DJ for $700.
Not looking for floral centerpieces.  She's only using floral for the BP.

Any ideas on venues that would fit that many people, low cost?  Any area is fine from all of MA, NH and parts of Southern, ME.  Preferably with a hotel near by.

I would suggest talking to venues about a Sunday afternoon or morning reception (avoiding meal times) to really save on serving full meals to so many people. A mid morning reception or mid afternoon is perfect for cake, punch and light finger foods. This will also save on open bar (ask to run a tab rather than a per person price) because people are much less likely to drink heavily at these times.

As long as she is offering your guests refreshment in various forms, she can avoid huge catering/liquor costs with this type of timing for the celebration.

I would also suggest a Friday evening or Sunday (as Meaghan said).

Maybe do it IN the hotel? Contact ones who are in the suburbs, IN the city is more expensive.

Or halls like KofC, the Elks, etc?

GL! I also used silk florals - WAY cheaper. I bought dresses online. (for my first wedding)

My entire wedding will be under 8k, but our guest list is small. My venue isn't expensive. What area are you looking in?

Maxwell Silverman's in Worcester is really nice and only charges $20 pp. I think their max capacity is 200-220.

I would look into Groveland Fairways especially on a Friday or Sunday they have lower fees.  I think they can fit up to 200.

Sorry Lisa, but I would HIGHLY suggest staying away from Maxwell Silverman's. The venueis beautiful but the manager / even coordinator is  NIGHTMARE to deal with. Not worth the little bit of savings you might get.

I would also agree with Meaghan on having the celebration at an off-peak time. You're able to avoid the sit-down dinner but are still able to have a very nice celebration.

    Best of luck!

Belknap Mill in Lacona is only $400 to rent for the day and they let you bring in your own caterer and alcohol. It was recommended to me by a coworker while I was searching for venues, but it was too far away for us. I think the capacity is 200+ there and it's right near the lake/downtown area.
