Bulk Flowers and Glue Guns

Ladies I am in need of some serious help here. I am wondering who would have the better selection for flowers, Michael's or Hobby Lobby? This is how we are doing my bouquet, two stems for the MOB and GOB. The readers, songtress, day of coordinator, and the flowers for the groom, two nephews walking GOB down, ring bearer and my father will have theirs made by hand as well.

Also I never bought a glue gun in my life so I am at a lost, more than likely I am going to give the glue gun to my day of coordinator since I have no use for it. What should I look for when I am looking for this or is there another way to glue on the little accents going on the flowers?

I am so not the creative type as you see lol

  • I think that would depend on your local store. Where I live there are three Micheal's and four Hobby Lobby's. One Micheal's has a great floral section the others really suck. Two Hobby Lobby's have amazing floral sections and the others aren't so great.

You can use E6000 for the glue. It works better than a glue gun. However, a glue gun would work fine. Get one with multiple heat settings. Also you have to choose between full size and mini. Typically mini's only come with one heat setting. You would only need a mini if you are working with small items or delicate items. You say "little accents" so mini may be the best choice for you.

IMO E6000 is the best bet if you won't ever use the glue gun again. It is cheaper and you don't need extra supplies as you would with a glue gun (glue sticks, board to rest gun on so drips don't get everywhere). It is also very easy to work with.
  • I would go to both stores and look.  Also keep an eye out for coupons since both always have coupons!  Also, if you end up haivng to buy a glue gun, I would bet you can sell it after the wedding to another bride and recoup most if not all of your money (especially if you buy it with a coupon since most people won't be able to snag that price) so don't see it as a complete loss.

I used E6000 for some of my crafts, and I love how strong it us. BUT it smells ridiculously awful, and it's toxic enough that you need to work with it in a very well ventilated area. And the cancer warnings on the package are kind of freaky!

I ended up switching to a glue gun for my extensive projects like pomanders and centerpieces. So far I have used a mini low-heat glue gun for everything, and it works great! It was only $3 at Hobby Lobby, and so far I am not even through one pack of glue sticks yet. Yay!

As to flowers, I feel that Michael's has a better selection overall, and they usually have rotating sales, so I got some pretty good deals. You have to be a little careful, though, because some of their floral collections rotate quickly, so you can't count on your choice of flowers to be there forever.
  • Thanks ladies. I am actually going to go to Michael's this weekend since they have these rose bunches on sale for 3.99, they are the perfect size and I can get three which is enough for my bouquet and the bridal party. Decided against the whole little accents cause I am not the bedazzled type (but one of my BM is determine to get me there lol ). I might end up finding one of those pretty bouquet rings/squares and put a ribbon or the raffia thru it for the little splash of dazzle. Wonder if Michael's or Hobby Lobby sales those?

<div>Hobby Lobby does, I was just in there :) Michael's probably does, too. Good luck!</div>
