couples shower--who gets invited???

hey everyone!

so my fiance and i are pretty laid back people and decided to have a couples bbq shower but we have no idea who is supposed to be invited to this kind of event.  i was hoping one of you gals has some advice on the matter cause my maid of honor is trying to get invites out pretty soon and i don't want to hold her up!  oh, we have about 50% of our guest list coming from out of town (mainly my fiance's family), not sure if that matters (170 people total are invited).  thanks for your help in advance!

Ask your MOH how many guests she wants to host.
Your guest list should include the bride and groom's parents, siblings, wedding party, close family members and friends along with all the significant others. You do not have to invite everyone on the wedding guest list to the shower. But everyone on the shower guest list should be invited to the wedding.

I hosted a shower at my house like this.  The couple wanted the shower to be more about "them" than "her".  It turned out great and it was a lot of fun.

I would see how many people MOH is comforatble having.  I would invite everyone that is invited to the wedding.  Keep in mine OOT guests don't always travel for the shower, but they should still be invited.
