Corset or buttons?

wondering what you ladies prefer. I think by the look I like the buttons but I wonder if I will like the fit of the corset better. My FI likes the look for the corset ( i think he finds it sexy).

what do you ladies prefer? Or do you prefer neither and just like the clean look in the back?

I'm all about the traditional buttons. I didn't try on the corset, so I don't know how the fit is.

Im not a fan of the corset either, my dress has a clean back but I am having buttons added to hide the look of the zipper.

seems like corset is winning slightly in the poll.

For you ladies that choose corset, did you try one with buttons and what was your reason for choosing a corset dress?

corset. I don't think I tried on anything but. I guess that style pretty much chose me. LOL.

And, I like it cuz my chubby self has a little extra room to loosen or tighten if i need it

mine is a corset back. Its the only way I would go. The LAST thing I want to be stressing out about the week before the wedding is whether or not I can eat the cupcake and still be able to zip the dress!

I didnt try on a corset back for my wedding dress, but in college my sorority had a corset back dress for preference round. I found it really uncomfortable bc it was so hard to get exactly right, like it was either too tight or too loose feeling and it never felt and looked just right. The dress was a satin long formal "bridesmaids dress" so I feel like it would have the same look and feeling. Maybe there is a trick to get it exactly right that I just didn't know.

The first dress I wanted was corset. I really loved it because you can fit it exactly how you want it and you wouldn't have to alter it (saves a little $). My daughter's flower girl dress is a corset. I didn't have any problems with any of the corsets I tried or my daughter's. I haven't tried any buttons because I never found one that I liked. I ended up with a zipper though. If there was one thing I could change about it, it would be to make it a corset just because I love them.

Plus most of the dresses without the corset were more in the mermaid or trumpet category and I wanted a big ball gown. most of the dresses with buttons are zippers with faux buttons on the flap. You can't tell its a zipper but it is super easy to get into. The ones with actual buttons are going to be the more high end and very pricey gowns.

i had actual buttons added to mine and i loved them! but i preferred even just a plain zipper back to the corset back. i'm not a fan of the corset. some people rave about being able to pull it super tight to look very thin, but i've seen a lot of people who do that who end up pulling it too tight; this results in flabs of skin and fat that hang over the neckline, under the armpit, and at the back. i'd get a button or zipper back and save the corset for the wedding night lingerie if it was me. but it's all a matter of personal preference!

well I didn't mean actual buttons I meant the zipper with the faux buttons. haha good idea sarah about the lingerie, my FI mentioned "cutting" me out of the dress anyway and I said no way are you touching my wedding dress with a knife. Men.

CORSET!!! I can't tell you how much I loved it! Here are some thoughts...

It gave me support in the chest (which is hard for me to find), it unbelievably accentuated my waist and I didn't have to wear Spanx (just for that little bit of pooch). I was comfortable and felt secure all night.

I love the look of the corset... and DH thinks it's sexy (in a classy way of course.)

I didn't have it pulled so tight that I couldn't breathe or that it created flab.

My mom came with me to all of my fittings and became a pro by our wedding day.

It did take a little longer to put on... but that wasn't a problem. It allowed for cute pictures of my bridesmaids smiling at me while getting dressed. Just allot for it if you are concerned.

I lost three pounds or so b/w my last fitting (a week before the wedding) and the day of.. the corset was great because it could be pulled a little tighter and it still fit. I didn't have it falling down all night.

It is a personal choice... and you can't go wrong with either. I was 100% satisfied with my choice.
