I'm so excited!

I met with a florist today (the one who did that margarita arrangement that I shared) and I'm in love!  He is such an artist with an amazing vision.  He took all the things I liked and made something beautiful!  He had such awesome ideas- exactly what I was looking for.  He was cheaper than the other quotes I was getting and I'm getting more flowers for the price!

Yay! Thought I'd share my excitement!

  • That's awesome! It's good to find someone who can think outside the box with flowers and it's a double bonus when their prices are good.

  • Well I brought pictures of everything with me.  I brought pictures of the ceremony site, the reception site, my dress, the bridesmaid dress, and I even brought my shoe and the lamps we're using on some of the tables.  The other florists didn't ask to see any of these things, which made it hard for them to figure out my style.

This florist asked to see my dress first and then I brought out my shoes and that's what inspired the rest of his design.  I did tell him that I liked orchids and peonies, and he went from there.  He took all my colors and came up with amazing ideas for the bouquets (he's going to string pearls through the bouquets!).  Then he wanted to see the ceremony space and came up with ideas for the ceremony space.

After looking at the reception and cocktail hour spaces and showing him the lamps, I showed him a photo of a centerpiece I loved from his website.  He said, "oh no, you don't want that.  That's very expensive."  So I asked him how expensive... $325 per centerpiece! OMG.  But he took the idea of it and came up with an amazing centerpiece within my budget.  I think I may even like it better than the expensive one!

Here's what we ended up with:

Bouquets: mine will have lambs ear, pink peonies, hydrangea, pink ranunculus, pink orchids, and pearls and will be wrapped in the extra lace from my dress
bridesmaids will have lambs ear, pink orchids, pink peonies and will be wrapped in the extra fabric from her dress
Three ceremony arrangements- then have pearls and pink orchids in the vase suspended in the water with tall grasses coming out of the top
    Rose petals for the isle
Small square vases with a pink orchid and led light for cocktail tables
Half the tables in a tall arrangement with quince branches (click here to see them)and hydrangia with led lights in the vase
Other half of the tables with our lamps and hydrangia and grasses around the bottoms
Pink orchid arrangements for the card table and ladies room

Sorry for the crazy long post!

OH and I did ask all the basic questions: How long he's been doing this, he told me up front he had my date open, I looked at all his portfolios, asked if he had been to my venue (he had once, but it was a while ago), asked about budget, etc.

Asked about delivery fees, and getting mockups done.

  • And that was $6,000?  Crazy!!  I thought you were getting some huge arrangements or something!  I like the wildflower idea- very vintage.  Lovely!  Good luck!  Let us know how the next florist goes.
