I have heard that the Music Connection out of San Antonio Tx is one of the best and most affordable DJ services.  My freinds have all recommended them for my wedding. I would look into using their services. As far as the photographer goes I would really look into Video By: Joe Simon Productions. I saw this video on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0BL-pGJJII and they had used the Music Connection for their DJ as well.  So check it out and best of luck!!

There are tons of people to choose from and it gets confusing, but I can try to help by explaining why we went with the people we chose!

Photographer = Phenom Photography.  www.phenomimage.com His name is Reggie, he recently moved here from Houston and is a wonderful photographer.  He loves doing black & white photos, which is something that I really like so it was a good fit.  He is really personable and laid back, and we got the DVD of our engagement pictures within a few weeks!  I'm really looking forward to taking bridal portraits with him this summer.

DJ = Christian with Texas Entertainment.  This is a company based out of College Station.  My fiancee and I are both Aggies so it's fitting that our DJ is too.  He is super nice and the company is very reputable.  The price is fair, not the cheapest but I think it will be well worth the cost.

The biggest thing is meeting with people and seeing if your personalities mesh well.  I also met with Kat from Mustard Seed Photography - she was really nice and I liked her but her style wasn't exactly what we were looking for.  Don't worry - you'll find someone!  Good luck!

I went with Skeem photography simply because she was one of the nicest people I talked to and the best value I could find. I looked for photographers from San Antonio all the way down in the Valley, and she definitely had the best value and flexibility. We have now done our engagement session and the pictures were awesome. She had our proofs uploaded within 24 hrs. You should look into it.

We just met with Robyn Werner tonight. Very reasonable and totally nice. She shoots our engagment photos Feb 11th. She spent 90 min with my fiancee answering a ton of questions I came up with and was surprised at how thorough we were.

    Good luck.

I have used The Music Connection before. They were very professional and did a great job. As for Photographer, Parish Photography is great, they even put your whole event into a book of Memories.

For the photographer, what helped me narrow down my choices was the photographers style.  There is the traditional photography- which is posed, then there is photojournalistic style- which is more candid.  I looked for HOURS at different photographers to figure out their personal style until I figured out what I was looking for.  You should also look at pictures of yourself to figure out how you like to see yourself.  Do you like picutres where you are posed, or do you like the pictures you didn't know were being taken?  I found I like the photojournalistic style.  I am using Bend the Light, they do a combination of both.  They have been great to work with and I would highly recommend them, but I must warn you they are pricey.  But I feel photography is worth it!  You will look at those pictures for the rest of your life, and if you hate them you will never forgive yourself!!  =)

I have booked Brandon with Platinum dj.  He is very professional and extremely organized.  When you book a dj, you have to remember this person sets the tone for your reception.  You want someone who matches your personality style, and will remember all the things that need to happen during the reception (parents dances, cake cutting, garter toss, bouquet toss...etc).  I have seen horrible dj's at weddings, and years later I still remember why. They didn't play bad music, but they didn't do a good job of creating a good reception "flow".  I missed my cousin's cake cutting because it wasn't announced!  I also sat for 20 minutes staring at the buffet because the dj did not direct the guests to start. (The bride and groom had not yet arrived).  When you interview a dj, you need to ask them how they plan to create this "flow".

When it comes to picking vendors I have found that those that have won "The Knot Best of Weddings" really are the best.  They may be pricier, but they are prompt, personable, and organized.

    Good luck!

DJ: Platinum DJ Entertainment.  My bestie used his for hers and we were so impressed that we just booked him for ours next year.  He was featured as one of the "Knot's best picks."  In addition to being a DJ who is VERY receptive to the crowd and music he plays to encourage others to dance and get involved, he also acts as a great master of ceremony.  My best friend said she felt so much at ease that day because Brandon (DJ) was on top of everything as fas as when the announcement/first dance, cake cutting, etc. was going to be that she felt he was a sort of wedding planner that evening.  Smile

I'm also using Bend the Light photography and Brandon with Platinum DJ entertainment.  Talking to Kaylinn from Bend the Light over the phone was very easy and fun.  Both ladies are extremley prompt in replying to my emails (vendors not responding in time is one of my pet peeves!).  Like FutureMrsT19 said, they are a little expensive, but I was willing to pay because photography was the one part of my budget that I told myself I would not compromise on.  As far as Brandon from Platinum Entertainment, he was the only DJ me and fiance met! We were so impressed by our meeting with him that we booked him on the spot.  He explained everything thoroughly and even told us what to watch out for if we picked another DJ, which was an eye opener.
I hope this helps! i spent a long time looking for photographers and went with the one that I liked their style the most.  Whenever you meet the DJ, make sure that they are the ones that will actually be at the wedding. Some DJ companies have several DJs so that the person you met and signed the contract with may not necessarily be the person at your wedding! (this was a tip from Brandon. and he had a lot more!)

My favorite DJ Service is Cutting Edge Entertainment.  They are great at keeping everything on track and making sure everyone is having fun.

Photographers, I also love Raw Images.  They have some cool pictures with really neat ideas of shots.

    Good luck!

Call Ed Elizondo.  Punalu'u Productions was great and he had a huge set up for only  $350 bucks...  Here is his website.

    Hope this helps,
