Officiant Suggestions Anyone?

We are getting married next August at the Brookfield Zoo and we are currently scouting officiants. We met with one that we like but felt his pricing ($950 for the middle package) seemed bit much. Neither my FI or I are religious, but we want to have a meaningful, yet fun ceremony lasting about 15 min. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Oh, and are celebrants the same as an officiant?

Check out my vendor review above for info on my officiant, Reverend Anne Styx.  Loved her!

I second Rev. Anne! We haven't had our ceremony yet, but we've met with her, and she is wonderful. She's so open-minded in all respects, and her fees are so very reasonable (it's $225 for our very customizable ceremony)!

For some reason, I can't edit. But I wanted to let you know that, yes, a celebrant and an officiant are basically the same. :)

We're having a friend of ours officiate. She got ordained online through the Universal Life Church for free. And it is totally legal and fine with the Cook Country Clerk.

Thanks! We just made an appt. with Anne. She seems like just what we are looking for.

I wholeheartedly second (or third, or fourth) Rev Anne Styx!  She's wonderful, fun, reasonably priced & really takes the time to make sure your ceremony is what you want.

Believe it or not you CAN negotiate their prices.  We went with Rev Phil Landers and his group.  I think that had we gone with their full package it would have gone for almost $1000 but we combined the middle and top package into what we wanted and needed and then negotiated the price from there.  We spent a little more than we wanted but are happy because we believe we are getting what we really wanted and this thing will be 100% customized to us, our cultures and our beliefs.

    Good luck.

Second the Tom Perrucci rec!! We just met with him Sunday and he was fantastic... full of fresh ideas, and both FI & I can't wait for him to perform our ceremony.
