SB new mommas and mommas to be

Any of you interested in cloth diapers? I am de-stashing some that we don't prefer (perfectly good, just not our style) and thought I'd give y'all first dibs. I'm working on a spreadsheet because there are so many. Most are pockets but there are some fitteds and covers too. If no one is interested in them, I'll go ahead and post them on TB.

  • Doesn't KW use cloth diapers? Maybe she would want some (not sure if she'd see this since she's not around much).
  • She may, but I figure she's got a stash set. I'll offer to her personally too.

  • I'm too lazy to CD.  I think if I didn't have to go back to work (next week - sad face) then I would have considered it.  But it seems like a lot of work and I don't think I'll have time.

  • Its not really that bad, and we save a lot of money, but it is certainly not for everyone. It has taken us this long to figure out a system that works for us. I throw in a load of diapers every other day.

  • H really wants to do cloth diapers, but I'm not totally sold yet. If you don't find anyone else, we'll take them :)  I want to look into it more first, but I have no clue what brands we'll want, etc.

Does your daycare do CP? or do you just do some disposable and some cloth?
  • We do cloth at daycare. The DCP loves it because there are fewer blowouts. Check out the CD board on TB. THey have an awesome FAQ at the top of the page. There are also videos on THe Awesome Cloth Diaper Blog (you'll have to google it).

We do use disposables when we are out running errands or travelling, mostly because I don't want to house stinky diapers in my hot car for longer than necessary. We are transitioning to cloth at night, but its about half time now because I forget to wash the overnight ones and have them dry in time. I need some more. Hence the destashing.

I'll send you the spreadsheet of what I have when I have it finished.

Also, I have a friend in MSP who CDs and I could bug her to meet up with you and show you how it works. She has a cute 14mo boy. We used to live together, so I'm pretty sure she won't make a skin suit out of you.

  • Steph, CDing is really easy and it saves a ton of money. You should definitely check it out. Kieran has not worn a disposable since he was 8 days old, and that includes a road trip from MA to Chicago. I do a load every 2-3 days, and I paid about $250-300 for the diapers. That should last until he is potty trained, so soooo much cheaper than disposables. It is not for everyone, but if you can start, it is ridiculously easy.

Sarah, LO was leaking at night in pockets with an insert and doubler until we added these. He hasn't leaked since.

  • Thanks for the tip, Alli. We are using Best Bottoms exclusively now (same thing Sookie uses I think). There is an overnight and a regular to stack together, and it works out well, I just don't have enough overnight ones. I might get some of those just to add in on top. I just couldnt get the pockets absorbent enough for night time while still being trim enough for him to move around. He moves a lot in his sleep and is disturbed if he can't.
