Crazy Prom Pics

My local paper lets people upload their prom pics every year, and I just happened to come upon this prize this morning:

What's not to love? The leopard print, the glitter, the tulle, the matching shoes... and the hat. Oh, the hat. In another picture, she has a glittery eye mask on as well.

She really wanted to use this opportunity to pull out all the stops.

Re: Crazy Prom Pics

  • Imagine this princess on her pretty princess day:

  • Oh wow.  I feel the need to make a joke like "Hello?  --1985 called, they want their outfit back."
    Photobucket
  • haha that's amazing!

For the record, my prom picture did have a balloon arch in the background :/

  • Eh, whatever. It's her prom. I don't see anything wrong with dressing all fun and funky for a prom.
  • OH WOW.

How bout all Gucci (CUGI is what we call fake Gucci here).

  • I kind of love the first one. It's like she's saying "Fuckyou! I'm going to have fun tonight!"

I tried on a tiny top hat haircomb this weekend with Cew and Heels. I almost bought it because it was so ridiculously fun, but I have nowhere to wear it. I wish I'd found it 19 years ago for my prom!
  • My prom picture was the best.  They had me sit on my dates lap.  When we got the pictures back the lighting was all sorts of wrong - it looks like I'm sitting in a wheelchair and his head is just floating like Cew.  It's very strange.
  • Stackeye, at there was planning involved? And I would assume some sewing? A for effort!
  • I'd have given that second guy $100 if the next pic after he was slipping on her shoe was him between her legs dry humping her!
  • Stack -- that sucks!  I bet it's funny to look back on now, though.

Both years, my prom pictures came out terrible.  The photographer was awful.  He would just pose you, then snap, no warning.  So both years, my face is making some weird twisting hint of a smile, and my dates look stoned.  But at least my dress and hair look good, I think?  I don't know.

  • Nah. 1985 involved hoop skirts.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • I didn't go to my senior prom. I was VERY picky in HS, and the two guys that asked me weren't up to snuff (one was just a weirdo and the other was creepily obsessed with me). Plus, it takes a lot for me to get dressed up, and I just didn't see the point. Although, having said that, the guy I was in "love" with ended up being a coke head. I sure could pick them back then. Thank God he didn't give me the time of day; he's in a dive bar band in Atlanta now and looks rurnt.

I know what you mean.  The guy I dated on and off all of high school turned into a steroid freak, fully equipped with roid rages.  I broke up with him shortly after I got a call that he wrecked his truck, when I went to see him the window on his car was broken.  I asked what happened to the car, I thought you wrecked your truck.  He said he was so mad about the truck he punched the car window.  Ummmmm, yea - goodbye last 4 years, I'm straight!
  • What about the duct tape prom apparel?

  • Georgia, that cracks me up.

Um, in my "formal" prom picture of my boyfriend and I  senior year, the photographer had to stand so far back because my date was so tall that you can see the masking tape holding up the fake staircase backdrop.  It's awesome.

I chose very elegant, non-trendy dresses both years, so otherwise there's really nothing uber embarrassing about my pics.  Except maybe my raccoon eyes and orange glow from the tanning bed . . .

  • I wore a short, halter top slutty dress to my senior prom. Well, slutty by 90s standards. Not so much now! Of course, I was there with my husband, so my dress wasn't exactly what people talked about at my prom. LOL!

  • HA - bec that picture is great!  I wish I had some of mine scanned on here.  My 9th grade homecoming I have a little black dress on (shoes just like yours), I was super duper skinny and I'm standing with my feet shoulder width apart.  I was still a tomboy at that point and had absolutely NO idea how to be a lady yet.
  • Damn, Bec look at your legs!  Go girl :)

  • LOL TR. Thanks! I was actually only about 5'4" in that photo. But I've always been all legs. That's one of the few photos where EX was taller than me in heels. I had some weird early-20s growth spurt and now I'm 5'7" and I have boobs. :)
  • I had the same early-20's growth spurt, but without the boobs :(

OMG Bec!  Cuteness.  The shoes were awesome.  Even as a 90s teen you had totally awesome shoes.
  • Bec, what a great picture!!!  I wish I had mine scanned in here.  Junior prom I got to wear the most awesome dress - a friend's mom's vintage 1950s prom dress complete with hoops.  My date wore eyeliner - lots of eyeliner.  Senior prom my mom made me a (I thought) very sexy backless dress, which was great until I developed a gigantic zit right between the shoulder blades on the morning of prom.
  • I think I've posted this before in a different topic, but here's Kellie Pickler's trash-tastic prom dress:

  • My older sister can be blamed for my shoe addiction. She lived in Japan when I was in middle school and sent me the coolest freakin shoes. That started it all!

I'm amazed at how much Manda and I look alike at the same age. If you take away the 90's poof bangs and add some smokey-eye make-up, that's her face right there!
  • I  wish I had a picture of one of my prom dresses to show you. I went to a really conservative christian high school and loved pushing buttons. So my dress was Black Pleather with gold rivets. It was completely in dress code though because it was still very modest. I wore my hair in a twisty rocked out fashion and the mom's just sent me daggers with their eyes. I got a pretty good kick out of it. Espeically since there were girls trying to get away with skanky dresses that showed everything. However at our school, they did get sent home.
  • Ah, prom.  I wore a hand-me-down dress from my cousin that we had to let out 2 sizes and $10 pumps from Wal-Mart.  I lived in a blue-collar community and nobody rented limos for prom (waste of money), so I borrowed my parents' Dodge Shadow and drove myself and my date.  I had just recovered from the chicken pox that week and was not only covered with scabs, but was also hideously pale.  My date was my hairdresser's son, and I'd only spoken to him a couple of times before prom (my ex-boyfriend knew I needed a date and suggested he ask me...it worked out well, though, and we're still friends 15 years later).  Oh, and my friends didn't realize I wasn't behind them when we left the restaurant, so my date and I got lost trying to find our way to the prom from dinner. :)  Memories....
