Need Help!

So my wedding as of now is 2 years away, but I really want to begin a diet and exercise routine now. Anyone have any good diet suggestions that have or are working for them? Thanks!

  • Check Anna's sticky at the top of the board - tons of helpful info and facts in one post

  • I agree that you should check out the sticky! One of the best pieces of advice I've ever gotten was to make this about a lifestyle change, NOT a diet. Diets usually consist of depriving yourself of certain foods, then gaining all the weight back once you stop following it. Not worth it IMO.

Some things I'm trying to do myself if this helps:
-Cutting out pops, most juices, etc. and drinking more water.
-Getting in at least some activity as much as possible, whether it be going for a walk, dancing around the apartment or actually going to the gym for a "real" workout.
-Trying not to buy junk food when I go shopping. If it's in the house, I'll eat it. If it's not, I'm forced to either eat what I have or go all the way to the store for that junk I'm craving.
-Logging what I eat on My Fitness Pal. I admit, I slack on this a lot, but it really opened my eyes when I first started using it. It's great to see exactly what I'm eating so I know what I can cut out. Usually it's the drinks - I could cut out 100-200 calories here and there if I just drink water instead.
-Realizing portion sizes. I think a serving of cereal is like 1/4 or 1/2 cup. Most people eat at LEAST a cup if they're like me and fill the bowl up (and who doesn't, it doesn't fill me up anyways, haha). But it's important to know what the right portion is so you can get an accurate picture of the calories you're taking in.

    Hope that helped a little!

  • The one workout plan that has changed my life and taught me SOOO much about working out and nutrition is Jamie Eason's LiveFit program.  I'd recommend you give it a shot!  If you want to see my journey on the program, I blogged my way through it at http://livelifeactive.com/live-fit-trainer/

  • So I bought this ebook when I was trying to lose weight for my wedding and it gave me a lot of great tips.  I always found if I didnt have a VERY specific plan to follow, I'd go off track.  Just a tip :)
