Military Brides

September 22nd or November 10th

Hello ladies,
I want to thank all of you that gave me advice on what to do on my 'Deployment' post. I was so nervous about contacting all of my vendors and you all really made it easier for me to. I am pretty happy right now! I spoke to all of them, and they are all holding another date for me until I have a better idea next month of when my fiance will be home. Since I have mailed out my save the dates already, I may just have to tell my guests to scratch that date out ;) The alternative date is November 10th. Right now I am really thankful for the understanding people who are part of my wedding. Thankfully, I will not be losing my deposits.
Anyway, I wanted to show you all a picture of our save the date magnets. What a shame if we have to change our date....I probably won't mail out new ones lol.

  • Hey, they look cute, but you might want to edit out the part that has the last name (the website).  Read up on OPSEC and PERSEC as they'll be your friend as a military spouse!

Glad to hear your vendors will work with you!  Be sure to get everything in writing, and add a military clause to the contract in case the new day doesn't work either for whatever reason.  It's all wonderful to have people verbally agree to work with you, but having it in writing protects you.  I'm marrying a soon-to-be lawyer, so I'm a bit paranoid about that stuff!

Thanks for reminding me. Is it okay now?
You're right about having it in writing. A bit of a different subject, but I know someone that got married and the photographer took pictures over all of their wedding pictures so now they have no pictures of their wedding. How awful. I'm making sure I mention that to my photographer and we have an understanding of how we will deal if something like that were to happen. [all in writing of course :)]
  • Glad to see it all has worked out!

    Perfect, yes!

And yeah, writing is the only way to protect yourself.  Though paying with a credit card for as much as possible helps, too, because the Credit Card Protection Act means you can cancel payment if the services aren't done as agreed (and disappearing photos would be a prime example) and then it's the credit card company's responsibility to seek repayment from the vendor.  It was a tip I was given early on and very glad for, so I hope it's as helpful to others!  Paying with a check would mean you would have to be the one to go after them if something went wrong.  Sometimes it's unavoidable - our caterer, for example, wouldn't accept credit card.

  • Glad it worked out!! Pretty pics too, what great memories of the engagement, even if your STDs might be incorrect :)
