Jewish Knotties

Do any of you know if there is a website like the knot, but for bar/bat mitzvahs?
Thanks!

I've never come across one....Are you looking for something specific?

yay! I thought you were on here today jh. I am asking because I have been doing a ton for work and I am not as well educated on them as I am on weddings. I know how to make a room look beautiful, but I want to know current trends/trains of thought on bar mitzvah receptions.

Ah- Is it a boy or girl?
    Some ideas to help you...
Make it interactive for sure. Kids get bored. Dancing!!!!
Do something personal, kids favorite colors/bands/hobbies
    Photobooths for kids
    candy bar
bar w/ a bar tender but for smoothies or ice cream/frappes/milkshakes

Have you posted on the jewish board?

oooh good - we have all those things already so I am SO glad we are on the right track :) We do mostly girls though as it is more of a princessy country club type place than a unisex venue. Girls are much easier as far as I am concerned. Maybe more crying in the bathroom but less broken/messy stuff at the end of the night ;)

I am off to post on the Jewish board as soon as my dumb slow internet lets me open a new tab! Thank you!

i have catered a ton of outrageous bar/bat mitzvahs in the city, and while many of them have been so over the top and in the million dollar range, here are some INSANE things i have seen:
1.dessert lounge...one room carpeted/draped floor to ceiling in white, with all white desserts and candy...it was incredible.
    2. soda bar for kids....one had every flavor of stewarts soda in bottles...kids love soda in bottles
    3. flat screen TVs with Wii and Guitar Hero
    4. separate DJ and dance floor for kids
    5. make your own pillows/posters/flip flops/jewelry stations
    6. photobooths galore
    7. hair braiders/hair wraps
    8. multiple bands over the course of the evening, ie string quartets into traditional klezmer bands into live bands playing current music to DJ at the end
    9. different menus for kids and adults....fancy grown up food for the adults, and stuff like sliders, hot dogs, soft pretzels, s'mores for kids
    10. entirely separate kids and adult areas.
    11. dancers/party starters
    12. tons of cheesy DJ props for the dance floor...kids love it!

the craziest one i ever worked had 500+ people, multiple bands including a 16 piece band with 8 singers, every single thing on the above list...millions of dollars of isanity.

one thing i have noticed though is that kids get tired more easily than you think, and when there are too many things for them to do, the waste is astronomical.
