Rank on STDs?

Quick question:

My understanding is that I should put FI's rank on invitations, is that correct? Like:

Greg ****
1st LT, United States Army

Do I also put his rank on STDs? I felt like since they are much more casual, maybe no rank, but I don't want to disrespect the military at any time so I wanted to check first. What do you guys think?

STDs are much more casual.. It's kind of like a "hey, fyi, we'll be sending you an invite! yay!" kinda deal... Doesn't need to be formal at all.
If your wedding is more formal and you would like people to wear their uniform (or welcome it if people want) then you can put ranks, but even on formal invites it's also not necessary.

I'm with FTl on this . STDs are way more casual you don't have to put that on there. and on invites you don't have to, but it is recommended regardless of the formality because its like Mr or Mrs so you use it if you are using those (so i guess if you going informal enough to not use Mr and Mrs you wouldn't use it). - that's all technically and ettiqute wise I mean you can really do whatever you want. :)

And as a side note: I'd look it up because i haven't looked it up but i live/am related to walking etiquette books

Army you don't distinguish between 1st and 2nd Lieutenant
so you would just have -- />
    Greg
    Lieutenant, United States Army

Air force and Marines (so navy? check me guys that are navy) you do use the numbers but always written out: First Lieutenant, United States Air Force

*and senior officers rank goes on the same line as the name with branch below as an fyi

You are correct in your statement about army. Navy doesn't have 1st and 2nd they have Lieutenant Junior Grade and Lieutenant. (and unfortunately they do differeniate.. it was a PITA to write that on allour invites.. lol)
The knot has a good little guide for it all.
