Ceremony..

Do you think it's better to have the ceremony in a church or does it matter. I'm consider a venue where I can do my ceremony and reception at the same location just different areas.

I just want to know is it a bad idea to not get married in a church.

Re: Ceremony..

  • This is something only you and your FI can answer.  We did not get married in a church because we are not religious. Our ceremony was held outside at our reception venue and it was perfect for us!

  • If you are members of a church and want your faith to be a central part of your marriage, then get married in a church.   It's more than just a pretty building for a wedding ceremony.

  • If you are members of a certain church then that could get a little sticky. Your pastor may want to know if there was a reason behind it and it may raise some questions. It would also be wise to take into consideration if you have religious families on either side.

If you really dont want to get married in a church though but you have ties to a church, see if there is a way you could compromise. Ask the pastor if you could have them perform the ceremony at the venue you pick!

My husband (cant get ENOUGH of saying that) and I actually got married in the same park my parents got married in by the same pastor that married them. As it so happened, the church was right acorss the street and he was more than happy to do the ceremony!
