Mariella's

I'm going dress shopping for the first time this Thursday (ahhhh!) and I'm going to Mariella's in Rocky Hill. Anyone have advice/good stories/bad stories about the place? Thanks in advance!

Re: Mariella's

  • I  looked there....they're very nice, I had a great experience, but ultimately ended up purchasing when I went on my "big" trip with my mom, grandma, aunt, etc.  But no complaints on Mariella's, and good selection.
  • I got my dress there and have my final fitting there on Saturday!! I've heard mixed reviews about them but I had a great experience there. Kathy was my consultant and she didn't show me one thing outside my budget. She was helpful and very patient as I think I tried on at least 10 dresses there! I looked around other places but ultimately went back to get the dress I loved.
  • I had gotten BM's dresses there in the past and had wonderful experiences so it was a no brainer that I was going to get my dress there.  My mom and BM's also got their dresses there (make sure you ask about discounts if your BM's and mom's buy dresses there).  Sonya and Kathy are wonderful and give you their honest opinion.  They will tell you if they really love something or if they don't think it's the right dress which is great.  I recently went shopping with my brother's FI and the consultant told her every dress looked good....which it did, but didn't help her choose (it wasn't Mariella's BTW).

On another note, what time are you going?  I am going Thursday at 7 with my brother's FI because she thinks she found a dress and wants mine and my mom's opinion on it.
  • I'll be there at 6 with my mom and MOH. I'll be the one ripping my hair out lol I'm so picky!!! Thanks for all the help ladies!! It was greatly appreciated!
  • I bought my dress from Mariella's as well and have had nothing but positive experiences with them! Goodluck and have fun dress shopping (:

  • I got my BM dresses at Mariella's and they have been great! My mom also got her dress here and my sister just order her wedding dress with Mariella's. Everytime we got to the store everyone has been great and we have had nothing but good experiences :)

  • I just bought my dress there last week! I had a great experience and my consultant (who I'm blanking on her name) was very patient with me.  Everyone but me knew it was the dress but I was being super picky!  I can't wait to go back to do my headpiece appointment!  I went there on one of my co-workers recommendations (she got her dress there too) - I just saw pics today and her dress looked gorgeous on her (she had her fittings there as well).  Good luck and have fun!
  • The alterations women there are amazing!!!
  • I am picking up my dress today from Mariella's for my wedding Saturday.  I had Sonya as my consultant and she was wonderful.  She stayed in my budget, worked with the pictures I brought with me, was patient and just wonderful.  I had custom made sleeves for my dress that Mariella had done with my dress with another bride, and were made by the manufacturer.  My dress ended up being delayed coming in, and whenever I called to check to see where it was, they were patient and listened.  My coworker who is getting married next Saturday had Sonya as well,  bought her dress there, and we've had the same alterations lady, Angela, and we both love her.  Nothing but a positive experience from beginning to end.
  • I shopped at Mariella's but did not purchase my dress there.  The woman I worked with was so nice and helpful and made sure to not let me see anything outside of my budget.  I had gone to The Wedding Dress in Portland they day before Mariella's and found a dress I loved (lace, form fitting, sweetheart neck) and everything I saw at Mariella's that reminded me of the dress from the shop in portland was way past my budget.  In the end, I just didn't find anything I loved in my budget at Mariella's and ended up buying the dress I had tried on at The Wedding Dress.
  • One more questions - should i bring heels? i'm only 5ft tall...

  • It depends if you think you will wear heels for your wedding.  Try to bring shoes that have heels equivalent to the size of the ones you plan to wear.  I had actually purchased my shoes before my dress so I brought them with me.  It really helps you to get the full picture.
