cost of alterations???

How much to alterations typically cost? I plan on changing the neckline from straigt-strapless to sweetheart, putting buttons down the back and having it taken in to fit me. I'm assuming a few hundred but I'm trying to budget for it...

Should I expect more or less??

Also, any great places to take the dress in the Seattle/Bellevue or even Tacoma area? The place I bought it from does not offer alterations in house...

Valentinas Alterations in Bellevue does all kinds of alterations.  They are great with wedding gowns as well.  I have been going to this place for over 5 years since i moved to Bellevue and they have been in that business for 20 some years.
    Their address is
    806 102nd NE Ave
    Bellevue, Wa 98004
    425-455-8232

It is just around the corner of See's Candies in Bellevue-the same bldg.
If you call and make an appt, ask for Sandy-she's the owner.
    They are great!

I can add a recommendation to La Couturiere in Downtown Bellevue 14 102nd NE AVe Suite #1 (just off main)

She is from Rome - and she will make dresses from scratch as well.  She is doing my dress which is requiring a fair amount of alterations as I bought it off the rack at Brides against Breast Cancer sale.  She's doing it all by hand as I have a vera wang and she feels a machine would not look right!

And she was 1/2 the price of the other quote I got (which likely was very inflated)

Deb Hadeen did a great job on my alterations, and she was fast and cheap.

Totally agree.  My alterations will be about $260, that includes taking my dress in (and my bodice has tons of beading), hemming the front (which is mainly tulle and lace), adding a bustle, and steam cleaning it.
