Reception for lots of people on a budget - HELP

Hey everyone!

I need some advice. I'm trying to bless me bride-to-be by doing a lot of research and planning for our wedding. She tells me what she wants, and I try to make it happen. :)

Anyway, here's our situation...

Guest list of 300-350
Total budget for our wedding of $8500
She loves the rustic, barn look and feel

When push comes to shove, we'd sacrifice the ideal location to ensure we could still have a lot of people there. So, we basically need a large space to hold this amount, fit our budget (which means we could bring our own food), and not be a complete hole-in-the-wall so we can still make it nice.

Thoughts? Help? Are we hoping for too much? Is this impossible?

I would look into the Three Rivers Park District.  There are a lot of locations to choose from & many have a rustic, barn feel... (Which is why we picked the Chalet for our reception)!  Gale Woods is an actual barn, that holds 320 people.

We're also bringing in our own food, & like you, that was a great plus for us.

Good luck in your search & make sure to ask if you have any more questions!  = )

Agree with PP we went to Gale woods farms for our e-pics, which I believe is part of 3 rivers park district.  They have a barn there that is used for wedding receptions and whatnot.. Gorgeous scenery as well.

I went to a really nice wedding at Bunker Hills park, that had Famous Dave's catering and some other salads/fruit from Costco. The shelter house was large, open, and had a really nice vaulted ceiling - almost felt like a church! The bride gathered vases and decorations from thrift stores and divided a bunch of farmer's market/grocery store bouquets for the tables. It was lovely. I think Bunker Hills has a couple similar shelter houses plus a new full-season building you could use as a back up in case of bad weather. I think this would definitely be in your budget.
