NWR: might be moving out of state?!? (long)

Well if working, doing online classes every night and wedding planning and moving a hour away isn't enough on my plate....there is now a chance that we might actually be moving out of state!

FI is not actively looking for a new job but he was called by a university who was told about him (he is a strength and conditioning coach) to interview for a position. He doesn't work at a college now and really wants to take his career that direction so we know that moving from Florida is def. in our future. He went to the interview because we figured it would at least be a good experience and he can use it to leverage a promotion and raise at his current job.

Well they called him for a second interview (which was today) and FI just called me while waiting for his flight home to talk about it. From what the main guy told him, it seems like he is the one they want to hire. I'm happy for FI and he still wants to talk to his current job b/c we both agree that we aren't ready to move out of the area yet but if they offer him the job and his current job doesn't counter-offer, then we will be moving. We have no idea when they want the person to start or anything. It's exciting and scary at the same time....and of course the timing is not ideal (wedding in 52 days!!).

It also makes me nervous for myself because I just started working in the medical billing field in June of last year and I'll be finishing school in July. I don't feel like I have enough experience to easily find a new job. I was hoping to have a couple more years of experience and to have my certification by the time FI was ready to move on in his career.

Nothing is 100% yet so I'm not to going to stress about it but I can't ignore it either! I just needed to panic a little to someone..thanks for listening!

  • I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason...don't question the timing, just go with it and everything will work itself out the way it's meant to. Good luck and I hope it all works the way you want it to!!

  • if its for a university...is there a possibility they wont actually need the position filled until sometime in the summer for the fall semester? Because normal semesters end pretty soon, and usually theres not as much offered in the pe/rec side of post-secondaries in the summer semester, so there might be a possibility they dont need him immediatly so if he can have a conversation with them about the wedding they might be willing to wait on making him start or might be able to complete paperwork/work on a program from where you are now, until after the wedding(just be careful of how he words it).

    yes!

Also, girl, I feel ya!!  I am in NC now and moving to Colorado where FI found a good (permanent) job.  If you ever need advice or whatever, you can always hit me up.  I've had my fair share of breakdows over all the stress lately.  haha

    Here's my time table:

April 19 - last day of work
    April 20 - movers come
April 25 - drive out to colorado (3 days)
    May 5 - get married
May 28 - start my new job (just got the offer yesterday!!)

I'm also fixing my house up to rent because I can't sell it, so I've got that on top of everything else...

I guess I'm just saying that I feel your pain, and I wish you the best, but I know you can do it!!  :-D
  • Yay that's happy news, and life does have things come at us from all angles, but it all does happen for a reason ;) We want to be outta Florida soon too!

  • It is so scary but yet so exciting. I know you are in Florida which new state would you be moving too?

I agree things happen for a reason and while timing may not be right it still could be a great offer.
